So July is over tonight!  How is that even possible?  Anyway I get to turn my calendar and see what new square dog delight is in store for me.  I won't peek, I turn it on the 1st every month.  Roche' loves that day too.

D#1 is coming along nicely, still has to take the pain meds and will for a bit but she is mobile and so happy it's all over.  The outcome could not be better actually.

Now I am really (really) tired so I'm done for the day.  Have a lovely Wednesday y'all.  Me too...

This is part of West Palm Beach from the Southern Boulevard bridge.  The city has changed so much since I moved here in 1981, it's all for the better too.  There is quite a lot to do downtown now.

Our patient is doing well, getting around, showering, walking in the hallway (with a walker), sitting on the balcony in a recliner, really not doing badly at all.  Each day is a bit better.

Tonight I am going downstairs to poker for a bit and swim too.  She is able to be alone for a time now.  Not too long and I don't go far though.  Not yet anyway.

So that's it from my world.  It's all good here.  Hope it is in your world too!

Monday, July 29, 2013

It rained all day yesterday until I started cooking dinner and then it stopped.  I did, however, manage to get to the fruit stand and grocery store and there are lots of wonderful things to eat around here, all healthy ones too.

Our gal is doing so much better, her pain is there but under control with the pills and we managed to get her a shower and bandage change and she was up and walking a good bit.  There is a rainbow on the horizon where she is concerned!

Several of you asked why she came home so fast.  The surgeon explained that he gets his patients home as fast as he can and therefore has an extremely low infection rate.  He feels the longer you stay in the hospital the more chance of picking up a staph infection or worse.  I think he's right.  So far so good!

Have a great day y'all.  Mine is much easier and it'll start being fun soon...

Sunday, July 28, 2013

Well our girl came home and she's in mucho pain but it will pass in a few days and she will be fine.  I spoke to Dr. Wacks and he said to keep her as comfortable as possible and let her sleep as much as she can so that's what I shall do.  And cook healthy things to try to tempt her to eat a bit.

I got to swim before she came home and it is still warm and lovely, I cannot tell you how good it makes me feel to exercise in the pool. I know I've said it before but it's so true.

So today I must go to the WalMart and the fruit stand to get lots of nice stuff to cook for my little girl.  Roche' wants to make her feel better, he wants to snuggle with her but right now a rock is a bit hard for her to cuddle with so I'm in the middle of that one.  For now he's snuggling with me.  Sometimes his rhinestones hurt too!  ha ha

That's about it from my world.  Hope you have a lovely Sunday.  Mine will be tough but I'll get it done with bells on!

Friday, July 26, 2013

As I write this it's Friday evening.  I got up and changed the sheets and did laundry and went to the pool.  Then I went to the hospital.  She was walking and in her regular pajamas and smiling and happy.

And then the pain meds wore off and she was writhing in pain.  The nurse was very slow to respond.  The duck called Dr. Wacks and he took care of that pronto but it was too late, her pain was out of control.  My heart broke as she laid there sobbing.  Finally the nurse came and now her meds are automatic every 4 hours and she should be some better.

It's a long road ahead but we will get there and it will be fine.  But for now my friends, I am totally wiped out and going to bed...  Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers.  Y'all rock!

Thursday, July 25, 2013

What a relief!  When I left her she was awake, talking, not in pain and hungry.  She felt better than she has in years.  She has two new discs, two titanium rods, and several bones removed as I understand it.  The surgeons were extremely happy with the results and feel she will do amazing in a few weeks.  Now I am so tired I can barely think straight so I'm off to bed.  Her hubby is staying at the hospital with her and the duck is there too now.  Until tomorrow...

I can't believe how long my hair got, really fast too.  I was even wearing it up the other day.  This is me with NO makeup, sorry if it scared you.

So today is the big surgery day and I'll be at the hospital all day but they have free wifi and I'll take the iPad with me and some snacks and cards and I have books on the iPad ready to read so I'll be fine.  I just can't forget my glasses, ha ha.

Yesterday I forgot my hat when I went to the pool and I did have on sunglasses but my eyes burned anyway.  They were really quite sore, drops didn't seem to help.  Bet I don't do that again.  The pool was really great though, crystal clear and not too warm, just right.

So I guess that's all I have in my brain now, I have to go take some fish oil...

Wednesday, July 24, 2013

My word, yesterday was hard but we got it done, all the pre stuff, scans, x-rays, paperwork and more paperwork and then more paperwork yet!  Today is nothing, just getting ready but that's not much to do and then Thursday we go.  We have been eating really healthy and walking and today I hope to get in the pool again if the weather holds out.

So the funniest thing happened.  D#1 ordered some holistic pills for healing and had them sent to me.  She forgot to tell me.  I got them and wrote to the seller that I received them but hadn't ordered them.  They wanted a photo of the package which I sent.  Then they wanted the order number, I told them there wasn't one, I didn't order them.  They said okay but could I send the order number.  I said no, there was no order number because I didn't order them.  Then they (for the third time) wrote and asked for the order number.  This time I asked them if anyone at their company spoke English as I didn't know how to be any clearer that I DID NOT order them.  Then D#1 found out about it and told me she did.  Oops.  Never mind.

Then she had to put on a gown to have a test done and it was one of those with three arm holes, well she couldn't figure out how to put it on.  She said she even tried to put her head in one of the holes.  I got to laughing so hard thinking about it and in the end she did get it on.  Backwards.  She takes after Sarge.

That's it from here, hope your day is great.  Mine too!

Tuesday, July 23, 2013

Well d#1 got here yesterday on time and went straight to bed.  The trip totally knocked her out.  She didn't even eat, just changed clothes and went to bed.  Poor thing.

Today is all the pre-op stuff so we'll be at the hospital.  Then the next day her hubby will be here.  And then the day after that it will all be over but the healing.

I am feeling stressed, I don't usually feel this way but I guess it's the upcoming surgery and all even though I have complete confidence in the doctors.  Anyway if I'm not around much in the next few days please forgive me.

And have a great Tuesday y'all... me too.

These photos are not retouched.  Straight out of the iPhone.  I never saw a yellow sky like this before.

I just couldn't stop watching it as it changed.  Incredible palate, if you didn't see it you wouldn't believe it.

This was the last one before it got dark.  You know I really do live in paradise.  I always say it but it's really true.

So I was able to get my hour in the pool before the weather siren went off, not much rain though, just a bit.  That's okay, I was already showered and in my gown and in front of the tv waiting for Big Brother to come on.

Today I'll go to the pool early and then go to the airport and pick up d#1.  I got lots of fresh fruit and vegetables to cook for her.  We'll eat super healthy.  Well I almost always do not but more so before her surgery.

I was reading an article that was so interesting.  I wish I saved it so I could link it here but it was saying that calories are unimportant, that the nutrition is much more important to consider.  The body used the nutrients to sustain itself and regenerate itself and heal itself.  Empty calories like sugar do nothing at all for you, just negative things.  I am not telling it correctly I know but it was really an eye opener for me.  I don't eat much sugar or white flour but I do eat some.  I'll try to have less.

So July is mostly over already.  I saw back-to-school stuff in the WalMart yesterday.  It goes by so danged fast!  Have a lovely Monday and a great new week.  I will too.

Sunday, July 21, 2013

My brain is getting into cruise mode again.  It's a ways off yet but that's okay, I like the planning and getting ready part too.  Did you hear Carnival ordered another new ship yesterday?  Yup, the Carnival Vista due out in 2016.  Hope it comes to Miami.  That hasn't been determined yet.

Yesterday I did an hour in the pool and it felt totally wonderful.  The sun was out and it was pretty breezy but not too bad, it was great really.  It got stormy later on but I was already done by then.

I also ordered another toilet tattoo for my bathroom this time.  It's a pink and green lilly, one big flower.

D#1 is coming back tomorrow to get the pre-op stuff done before the surgery.  I have heard so many great things about her surgeon and his partner and they will both be in there for it.  I have every confidence in them now.  She will be fine.

Have a lovely Sunday y'all.  I will too, I'm seeing the duck!

Saturday, July 20, 2013

Did you ever hear of a toilet tattoo?  Well I hadn't but now I have.  I found this one on Amazon and loved it immediately for my girly condo.  I put it in the guest bathroom.

It was easy to do and it's even removable if you don't like it.  And below is what Steve and Jane do in the bathrooms now.  I just love to come home after they have been there.  You never know what you'll find but it's always a delight.

And so here is some big news.  Really big news.  I booked a cruise.  Yup, I'm cruising with some friends but in a cabin all by myself.  You know you have to pay double to do that but it's fine, not exactly fair, but it is what it is.  Anyway I'm going the end of October.  I thought about it a few months and then in the words of the great Captain Cutugno, "Whatta the hell?"

So that's it from my world.  Hope yours is as delightful as mine...

Another rainy day in paradise.  I think I'm moldy now.  It just rains and rains.  And then it rains again.

But I was inside playing canasta and I won $1.25 so it's all good.  I'd rather be swimming in the sunshine but soon it will happen.

Remember I usually have a day off on Friday but today I am subbing in a canasta game for a gal that's daughter and son-in-law are here visiting so she's staying home today.

Oh, I saw some of my old mahjong gals yesterday in the grille room!  They had gotten rained out in golf and were having lunch so it was lovely to see them again.

Oh again, then Dr. Wacks came in and he was having lunch and started talking to me about the upcoming surgery and what needs to be done for d#1.  I was eating a salad luckily.  And he was eating a big old hamburger and FRIES!  Rats to that.

Soooo, all in all it was a pretty busy day in my world.  Hope your day is lovely, mine will be!

Thursday, July 18, 2013

This is yellow me.  You know the shoes have to match, right?  Yellow is not my favorite color but once in a while I like it.  I discovered I don't have any yellow earrings though... Guess I'll have to fix that soon.  Anyway it rained most of the day again yesterday so the yellow helped to cheer me a bit.  The new maj game was fun, I liked the way they play so I think I'll stay a while.

Today is canasta and lunch at the club.  I like the Thursday canasta game.  Fun gals and good company and we really care about each other.  Nice.

So Steve and Jane were there yesterday too, I didn't get to see them, they came and went while I was out but I sure came home to a nice sparkly clean condo.  I mean it wasn't dirty at all but they polish everything and they did all the windows too, looks really nice.

Is it just me or is Big Brother really rotten this season?  Between the racist girl and the crying New York girl I want to scream.  The New York girl just sobs her eyes out for a guy that she only just met and ran from her every chance he got and when he was voted out it was like her long time lover was gone.  They barely knew each other ffs!  Man, I am still watching but if they don't vote those two out soon I might leave.

So that's it in my world today y'all.  Hope your Thursday is as good as mine, if it is you'll have a great day!

Wednesday, July 17, 2013

You asked to see my bee jewelry so here goes.  I now put a bee on the chain of the necklaces I make too.  The pink one is the one I lost but later found.  I was so happy!  And the little one is the one from Paul.  The flag one is a Joan Rivers piece. I'm not crazy about her but I love the pin so I just said what the hell, just get it.  The red rhinestone one is from my red hat days.

My bee poker ring hasn't been very lucky but that might change any time now!

Yesterday I got on my bathing suit, my cover up, put on my sunscreen, got my sunglasses and hat and towel, and it rained.  And rained.  And rained.  And then it rained.

Finally I gave up and cleaned out my hall closet which wasn't even bad.  I am running out of things to do, seriously.

Before I'd just sit around on the computer and in front of the tv all day but now I have so much energy I just want to keep going.

So then I decided to get my shower, wash my hair, and get dressed for poker.  And then it stopped raining.  Buggers.  Rats.  So I missed my swim yesterday.

I got into a new mahjong game today.  I hope it works out because I miss playing maj.  And Friday I'm subbing for a gal in a canasta game.  Last night I lost five dollars at poker.  In that game it's almost a win!

So that's all I know for today.  Hope your Wednesday is totally tits.  I know mine will be...

Tuesday, July 16, 2013

So the Internet is abuzz with cries to boycott Florida.  Don't drink orange juice because of the verdict.  Don't go to Disney World because of the decision.  I just don't get it.  Sorry, the jury did the only thing they could with the facts presented to them, they kept to the law.  Whether right or wrong they did the only thing they really could.

How do I feel about it?  I don't know.  But I do know that if Trevon had been a white kid this would not be an issue.  The whole thing reeks of racism and there is sure a lot of that happening these days.  (She steps down off her soapbox now.)  Please feel free to leave your thoughts.

Oh, and one final thought, boycott away.  There are too many people here anyway.  And now Amazon is coming here so I'll have to pay sales tax on my purchases.  Buggers. (Now she really steps down.)

Fill up your tanks people, gas is going up a lot in the near future.  Again.

Okay let's find some good news!  I did an hour in the pool yesterday and had a lot of fun, that was good.  I plan on doing it again today too.

Then I made some enchiladas with a bee bandwagon flair.  110 calories each.  I ate three and have three left for tonight.  I poached a chicken breast, used low fat cheese, corn tortillas, enchilada sauce from a can, pretty good stuff for so few calories.

So tonight is poker.  Last week I lost thirty bucks, hope I win tonight.  I decided to play tighter.  By that I mean get into less pots.  Then mix it up in the second half.  We'll see if my strategy works.

Have a lovely Tuesday y'all.  I will too...  I get to swim, don't have to cook, and get to play cards, how great is that for a day?

Monday, July 15, 2013

I had a good time with the duck yesterday.  And the WalMart wasn't too bad, I got a big order.

Well it's Monday and the start of a new week again.  It's like a new chance to do something wonderful.  I'm sure going to try to do something and I hope you do too.  Another new beginning of sorts.  A rebirth.  A do over if you need one.  Don't waste it, okay?  In fact don't waste any day you have on this earth.  They are precious.

And now let's get a bit lighter.  I wore my bee pin that Paul sent me yesterday.  I love bee pins.  I now have five.  The pink one that was lost and I found, the one from Paul, a red rhinestone one, a Joan Rivers flag one, and the last one isn't a pin but a ring, a bee ring.

That reminds me.  I got a straw purse and the clasp was an ugly brown button.  I cut it off and put a cameo there for the closure.  Nice!  It's fun to use what you already have in a different way.

I still haven't gotten back into the closet and I know there is more in there that needs to go.  I have pants and tops that are too big again too.  It would have been a great rainy day project but did I do it?  No, I did not.  And today I can get back in the pool so that's where I'll be.  Hope your day is great too!

Sunday, July 14, 2013

Gosh I had some nice comments yesterday, thank you so much.  It was a rainy day but I couldn't get in the pool anyway.  I don't think I told you but at the dermatologist Thursday I had a biopsy on my leg.  I don't think it's anything to worry about but I can't get it in the pool until Monday.  I can shower but not keep it in the water that long to swim.  Anyway it was rainy so it didn't matter.

Instead I cooked some yummy things.  I need to come up with some new bee bandwagon recipes.  I didn't do that but am thinking about a few things.  I also haven't made the figure friendly fajitas for a long time and those are sounding good.

Yesterday when I got on the scale I was down a whole pound.  I am now the lowest weight I have been since 1986.  What about that?  I still have another ways to go, maybe 15-20 pounds more, then I'll be done and have to just keep it there.  Which I fully intend to do.

So have a lovely Sunday y'all.  I will too.  I'll be seeing the duck!

Saturday, July 13, 2013

Well d#1 left yesterday and went home for a bit more than a week and wouldn't you know it?  Her plane had to sit on the tarmac for several hours before it took off.  Buggers, the poor thing was in such pain but she wanted to see her family and I totally understand that.

In finding out a bit more about the upcoming surgery it's about 5 1/2 hours with two neurosurgeons working together.  The rods will be titanium.  Scary for sure but it's not an option to do anything else at this point.  It has to be done.

So I went to the dermatologist yesterday for my checkup and it was fine.  He did one small removal and said I was good to go for another year.  He knows how tan I am but said I am doing everything right and to just keep doing what I already am doing.  He gave me some samples of sunblock to try for sensitive skin.

I made a trip to the fruit stand when I dropped her off at the airport and got some nice veggies and a bit of fruit.

Today I still can't get in the pool because of the place the dermatologist took off but it's supposed to rain anyway and I have lots to do inside anyway.  I want to get back in my closet and do the balance of the drawers and then get started on some shelves.

Gosh this is a boring post.  So sorry.  Just nothing happening now but I'll have some fun and I hope you do too...

Friday, July 12, 2013

So d#1 is going home today, her surgery is in two weeks.  There is no reason for her to stay here during that time and of course she misses her family so she'll come back a few days before to have her pre-op done and then stay with me afterward for a few weeks probably.  It's pretty major surgery it seems.

She says I'm a good care giver, I am feeding her healthy stuff and trying to do things she needs when I can and we get along really good.  I enjoy her being here but just wish it was a more fun time and not medican stuff.

The duck is in rehab now too and he says his knee seems a bit better, hopefully that will continue.

So that is all the medical reports for today.  Oh, and I lost three dollars at canasta.  That's it y'all.  My brain is now officially empty.  Have a lovely Friday.  I will too.

Thursday, July 11, 2013

Roche has taken to napping on the couch now instead of the bed.  I swear that rock sleeps as much as a cat!  He sure is cute though.  Can you tell he's a little bit sunburned again?

Today we are seeing a neurosurgeon to set up d#1's surgery.  It might be as long as two weeks off though.  More x-rays yesterday and Dr. Wacks too.  Lots going on.  Hope it's done soon, mucho pain going on folks.  She's a trooper though, pushing through it and functioning as good as she can.

I plan on playing canasta this afternoon as she naps then so it should be fine, I'll just be next door.

Hope your Thursday is totally tits.  Ours too...

Wednesday, July 10, 2013

Wednesday and other stuff...

Today we shall be at Dr. Wacks office early and see where to go next.  Hopefully we can have her on the mend in no time.  That would be lovely.  There will be something to be done though.

I lost thirty bucks at poker last night but I didn't play canasta so I'm even.

I have some chicken to cook tonight, last night we walked over to the club and I had an omelet.  It was really delicious, filled with fresh veggies, it was mostly egg whites with a bit of whole egg for color.  They really make you anything you want in the omelet, lots of fresh fruit on the side too.  Really nice, and a good time in the pool so I had a good day.

Anyway I am losing a little bit again, finally.  It's been 21 months on this journey, 18 months of it without my sweet Sarge.  It's actually kept me thinking about something other than loss so that's another good thing it's done.

And that, my friends, is all I know today.  Hope your Prince Spaghetti day is totally tits, mine will be but then I'll be eating chicken instead...
