Happy New Year!

Today Steve and Jane come and shine my condo to within an inch of its life and that makes me very happy indeed, especially since I'll be at the pool while they do it.  How good is my life really?  Then when they leave I'll get the suitcase out and get started on that.  It's an eight day cruise so my little pink suitcase won't work this time.

Tonight I'll be at a New Year's Eve party with the governor of the pool and I'll get to wear a new dress.  Or an old one, not sure yet what I'll wear.

Poker was canceled last night because there weren't enough players so I went out to dinner with the mayor and his lovely bride.  It was a very enjoyable day even with Andre' beating me up pretty good.

I guess that's about all I know for today y'all.  Have a great New Year's Eve and stay safe.  I will too, for sure!

This is Ben Gentry.  He is the Piano Bar Entertainer on the Breeze next week.  I might have bought his shirt for 30 minutes on Halloween last year.  You are welcome.

Yes, I think he will remember me.  Possibly.  The duck has not cruised with him before and he is seriously in for a treat.  (Yes it was Halloween and yes I was a bee and yes I was sitting on the piano.  Again.)

Am I excited to be cruising again?  You bet your bippy I am.  Am I excited to be going with the duck?  Oh yeah, he's a hoot on a cruise.  My best cruise buddy.  D#1 is fun to cruise with but honestly she goes to bed at 9:00 and I don't and the duck stays with me whatever I want to do.  I love that.

Dinner, a show, the casino, the piano bar, the comedy club, and back to the piano bar until closing.  That's my nightly routine.  Daytime is coffee on the balcony, bathing suits, lounge chairs, pools, gym, sunshine, brunch in the dining room or a Guy's burger on the Lido deck and a nap.  Sound good?  It is.  Eight glorious days and nights.  Lovely!

It's time to get the suitcase out.  I love my life!

So this is Stevie.  He is the Governor of the pool.  He is my date for New Year's Eve.  Don't get any ideas because we both said last year if neither of us got a better offer we'd go out together this year.  Romantic?  Bwahahaha.  But at least I am not staying home alone and I will be with people I know and like and have a bit of fun.

Neither of us is the least bit interested in the other but we are friends and I do like him as a friend and neighbor.  This photo was taken at the Tenors concert.  Remember I had the cold and the dentist didn't go with me so Stevie went at the last minute.  Plus I get to dress up a bit and I love that.  I have so many dresses that I have never worn.  And shoes too.

Today it is to be sunny and in the 80's and I have nothing on my calendar so I shall be at the pool!  What a great day!

I guess that's all I know but here's hoping your Monday is as good as mine because mine is going to be fantastic!

Sunday, December 28, 2014

I took this photo one morning at sunrise in Puerto Rico from my balcony looking out at another Carnival ship.  I thought it was a pretty photo.  There is something about that Carnival "whale tail" that makes my heart flutter every time I see it.  It's iconic and it's the perfect symbol of fun to me.  And soon I will be near one again.  Six days actually but who's counting?

Today I shall be with the duck and we shall have a lovely lunch and go brave Publix for a bit.  I don't need much but it seems whenever I say that I still end up with a cart full so whatever it is it shall be.

Yesterday's card game was really very nice but from where we were playing I could see my friends at the pool and it made me want to be there so much.  I saw the mayor dive into the water (8.7 Walter - yes, I was watching) and then I saw my Canadian friends go in and I was so sad that I was stuck playing cards but I promised and I did it.

So New Year's is upon us this week.  Anyone have any plans?  If you go out stay safe please.  I need all the readers I can get.  (Kidding!)

Have a wonderful Sunday y'all.  I will too.  For sure.

Saturday, December 27, 2014

My day after Christmas was really nice and quiet.  I did go see Andre' and it was mostly arms because my legs are still sore! Lol.  Anyway I had a good workout and then the mayor cooked marinated chicken on the outside grill and gave me a huge delicious chicken breast which is easily enough for two meals or possibly three.  Yes, it's that large and tender and juicy and just delicious.  What a lucky gal I am to have such great neighbors!

Today I have canasta in my building's card room.  It's not a game I really want to play in but they needed me this week so I said I'd play.  I would much rather be in the pool though.

One week to cruise time as of today.  I am soooo looking forward to it and spending the time with the duck.  He's such a great cruiser, he's game for whatever I want to do.  He says he's my "wing man".  Like I need one, right?

I took my tree down and put everything away already.  Once it's over, well, it's over to me.  Sarge was the same way.  He'd start to take down the tree after Christmas dinner!

So have yourself a fabulous Saturday y'all.  You know I will too for sure!

I got the most beautiful orchid from that cute dentist!  What a sweet thing for him to do!

And these are my new Ray Bans from the duck.  This was taken at the Fern House before Christmas Dinner was served.  What a lovely meal it was and it was paid for by one of my favorite readers! (Thanks "J"!)

It was a cool day with a high of only 70°and not warm enough for the pool so when I got home I just got my gown on and played on the computer, made some calls, watched a tiny bit of TV and listened to music.  It was a wonderful relaxing day.

Now today is all new and it will find me in the very capable hands of the great Andre' trying to whip me back into shape after all the holiday meals I have eaten since Thanksgiving.  I have really not gained any weight in that time though, I just haven't lost any either.  All that will change soon though but not until after the cruise next week.

So I hope your holiday was fabulous whether it be Christmas or Hanukkah.  And that your Friday and weekend too!  Mine will be for sure...

Merry Christmas!
So the big day is finally here, the day the big guy heads down the chimney and drops lovely things to all that were good this year.  I sure hope he visits you.  And me too!

Wednesday, December 24, 2014

This is a 20 lb. weight.  That is hard to do.  Thirty times.  Andre' kicked my butt yesterday but I did most of it then I went in the pool and that was fabulous.  It is sparkling clean and warm and just wonderful.

Today I get to take that coconut cake to that cute dentist.  Yee Haw for me, right?  For those that are asking what is going on, nothing really.  We are good friends (without benefits) and that's really all.  Too bad, huh?  A gal can dream, right?

Poker didn't go well, I lost all my money by 9:15 and came home.  Just didn't get cards all night.

Tonight I am having dinner with the duck.  We have always had Italian food on Christmas Eve, for years I'd make lasagna but since it's only the two of us left we eat out at an Italian restaurant here that is very good.  Then tomorrow I am having dinner at the Fern House with him again.

Here's hoping your day is magical.  Wonderful.  Lovely.  Enchanting.  And that the man in the red suit finds you tonight!

Tuesday, December 23, 2014

Well the doctor's appointment with Dr. Wacks went well, I go back in six weeks again.  I am doing fine, nothing wrong, no changes, just keep on keeping on he says.

The pool was so nice after that.  Warm and divine with bright sunshine.  Then a shower and quick nap on the couch and dinner with two gal pals.  It was a pretty great day all in all.

Today I have the ever wonderful Andre' waiting to beat my up as I can now resume full activities according to the great Dr. Wacks.  Then poker tonight.

Then tomorrow I have to make a coconut cake for the cute dentist.  He requested it for Christmas and he shall have it for sure.  Anything to put a smile on that cute face!  What an angel he is.  And D#1's smile is coming along fabulously for sure.  He is not only cute he is an artist of the mouth.

Have a fabulous Tuesday y'all.  I will too.  You know it for sure!

Monday, December 22, 2014

Don't you just love this necklace?  It was a gift from one of my Mahjong gals.  She makes the cutest things.

So the Hanukkah dinner was fabulous and my pies were good I'll say, at least everyone thought or said so.  I got to bring home some brisket too!  Yee Haw to me!

Tonight I am having dinner out with two ladies in my building.  We shall go and have some drinks and a nice meal and chat for a bit.  They are some of the ladies that go to the pool with me sometimes.

Also I have an appointment with Dr. Wacks this morning.  I'm not thrilled with my weight meaning I haven't lost any more.  Since Thanksgiving I have not lost an ounce even with being sick.  I have not gained either though so it's not all bad, it just could be better.  I don't know what he'll say about it.

Then I plan on going to the pool between the doctor appointment and the dinner out so it'll be a busy day for me.  That's good, I like to be busy actually.

And that, my dears, is all I know today.  Have an amazing Monday.  I will too.  I promise you!

Sunday, December 21, 2014

Well it's Sunday and so that means the duck again.  And then I have to make my two pies this morning also for the dinner tonight.  I decided to make one Key Lime and one Coconut Creme.

Yesterday I went outside and sat at the pool again talking to some friends but didn't get in the water again.  The air wasn't warm enough for me.  It was really nice being outside though.  I love to sit out there.

Four more days until Christmas.  Four!  I got my first 1099 in the mail yesterday so that means the year is about over and it's getting to be time to think about the dreaded IRS again.  I think they finally decided I'm not dead if you remember.  They refused my return last year and told me they couldn't take it because I was dead.  I was standing there while they were telling me this.  Geniuses.  Yeah, we got 'em.

Guess that's all I have in my brain today y'all.  Have a great Sunday.  I will too.  For sure!

Friday, December 19, 2014

Andre' stepped it up a bit but I am still not back to the normal workout yet. I did pretty good though. I also sat out by the pool for a bit with some friends but not too long. And I didn't get in the water yet. Soon I hope.

Today I have chores to do and I have to run to Target or Publix at some point. I have to make some pies for Sunday for a Hanukkah dinner at the mayor's house. I have somehow become part of their family and I just love that.

I did a bit more online shopping too. I sure have been busy with that lately. I think I am keeping Amazon in business now. At least I'm trying!

Have a lovely Friday y'all. I will too, for sure.

Oh baby I lost big at canasta yesterday, over $9.00!  I just didn't get any good cards the whole day.  I still had a good time though and when you think about it $9.00 for a whole afternoon of fun is pretty cheap.  I had a nice lunch too.

So today I shall go see Andre' again and he will step it up from the last time as I had a very easy workout on Tuesday to get me back in shape after being sick.  If it's warm enough afterward I want to go to the pool.  I haven't been in it since I was sick and I'd love to swim again.  Plus I found out I can wear my Fitbit in the pool!  It said it won't track swimming accurately but the water won't hurt it and I am thinking that I do water jogging anyway and it might track that.

Last night I was bored so I - um - went online shoe shopping.  Now I need shoes like another hole in my head.  But they are so cute!  At least I didn't buy any more bathing suits.

Guess that's it from me for today, nothing else happened in my world.  Hope your Friday is totally tits y'all.  Mine will be, I just know it!

West Palm Beach's Sand Christmas Tree

I saw the tree and it is really pretty.  They did this last year too.  It's really nice and there are lots of other sand sculptures as well.  I really think the city has come so far and I just love it.  I remember when you wouldn't walk there after dark and look at it now, it's bustling all the time too.  I would not want to live anywhere else really.

Today I have canasta and lunch at the club.  The weather has been perfect and I'd like to be at the pool but not yet.  Soon I hope though.  That pesky raccoon was back again though, the fake alligator worked for a time but he was back again.  They are so annoying and dirty the whole pool so it has to be chemically cleaned again.

So D#1 is home and it was a lovely visit.  She is such an angel of a houseguest.  Plus Steve and Jane came and everything is back in place already.  She'll be back next month again after the cruise too.  Lucky me!

Have a wonderful Thursday y'all.  I will too, for sure!

Wednesday, December 17, 2014

I thought I'd show you D#1's oldest son, the one in the middle, he's off on a skiing trip right now having lots of fun obviously.

She is leaving early this morning. Really early but I'll wake up and take her to the airport.  She'll be back in a few months.  She got her temporary crowns yesterday and baby they are bee-u-tee-ful!  When her final ones are done she is going to have the prettiest smile anywhere around for sure.

That cute dentist is more than cute y'all, that man is an artist too.  Oh, and we might have made another date for after my cruise.  Possibly.  (Insert smile here).  I got some hugs too.  (Insert a second smile here).

Today I have a luncheon with my Mahjong girls and then we'll have our holiday gift exchange and play.  I love those girls for sure.

Hope your Wednesday is as good as mine.  If it is you are a lucky one!

The Fern House Christmas Party 2014

There were more than 240 in attendance.
The food was wonderful.

And Santa had a big bag of gifts for every child there.
There were 43 children.

The duck and everyone at the Fern House did a fabulous job this year, the best one ever.  The smiles on the children's faces told the whole story.  I am so glad I was able to go.  Thank you to all of you that helped make this possible too!

Oh, and I got to see that cute dentist too!  And guess what?  I'll see him again today as he wants me to bring D#1 for her appointment again because of medication he is giving her he doesn't want her to drive.  Poor me, I'll have to go get another hug won't I?

Have a great day y'all.  I will too.  For sure (wink).

Monday, December 15, 2014

I am quite a bit better now, thanks for all the comments and emails encouraging me to get well.  Yesterday it got really warm and it was so sunny that I went out and sat near the pool for a bit and that felt amazing actually, then I came up and went back to sleep for the rest of the afternoon.  All together except for the time outside I guess I slept 30 or so hours pretty straight.

Dr. Wacks gave me a Z pack for the bronchitis and told me if I wheezed at all to call him right away for Prednisone but so far no wheezing so no steroids.  I think I'm going to be well enough to go to the Christmas party tonight, at least I hope so.  D#1 will be here and she'll go too.  She is here until early Wednesday morning.

So there are 10 more days until Christmas now.  I am ready, I did everything either online or with cash.  No stores, no lines, no muss, no fuss.  No fun either, huh?  Oh well, that's what it was and I am happy with all I bought.

I really don't mean to be Scrooge at all, I just haven't had the strength or inclination to do more.  It's time to start thinking about the upcoming cruise too.  January 3rd the duck and I go on the Carnival Breeze.  I have been emailing with the Hotel Director, we'll be spoiled pretty good I think.  We always are!

So have a happy Monday y'all.  I will for sure, I'll have D#1 and the duck with me!

Sick Sucks

Back soon. Dr. Wacks is on it, I'll be fine soon, don't worry, just not yet.

The concert was amazing!  They sing like angels.  I did get very tired before it was over but I managed to stay to the very last note.  I guess I am weaker than I thought I was but I am very glad I went.  And to clarify Stevie is the pool's governor, not the mayor and he is not married.  I don't go out with any married men whether their wives are dolls or not, nope, not me.  But we are only friends and neighbors and he was a dear to take me at the last minute.  He also bought me dinner and that was very nice too.

So I am going to make this brief because I am very tired and want to get some meds into me and hit the bed.  I am really looking forward to my "nighttime" cold pills, the ones that make me sleepy.

Have a great day y'all.  I have nothing on my calendar, I'll be the one on the couch all day.

Friday, December 12, 2014

Well to update you that cute dentist is not going because of my cold and I completely understand that.  His mother lives with him and she is old and ill and his practice and busy time of the year.  So this is Stevie - the (self appointed) governor (of the pool) and he is going with me tonight.  This photo was taken when we went to a local piano bar one night.  Anyway we are just friends, nothing more but he has graciously agreed to fill in for my date for the night so I still get to go.

The Canadian Tenors - O Holy Night

Well the day is finally here.  I bought the tickets last August.  I won't buy them from PBS again though because you can't pick your seats.  From now on I'll buy directly from the Kravitz Center's website like I did for Charlie Daniels.  They aren't awful seats but they are in the middle of a row and we like to be on the aisle instead.  At least they are in the orchestra anyway.

And one of our doormen (well a woman doorman) works as a valet there so we get really really good parking - like right next to the door!  It's a madhouse after a concert as I'm sure you all know but we just get to stroll outside, get in the car, and drive away.  Nice, huh?  (Being a good tipper sure has it's privileges!)

I sent that cute dentist a text about my cold and am leaving it up to him if he goes or not, I am going either way as I don't think I am contagious any longer really.  It's been a week now.

So yesterday I laid around on the couch most of the day, did my nails, watched a bit of tv, listened to music, wrapped some gifts, wrote cards for grandchildren to get $ sent to them, thought about sending other cards, decided not to do it, just don't have the strength really.  So Merry Christmas if you aren't one of my grandchildren, no card for you! (Said in the Soup Nazi voice!)

Have a perfectly lovely Friday y'all.  I will too, all dressed up with somewhere to go!

Thursday, December 11, 2014

That's much better!  No fog.  But baby it's cold outside.  I think the high was only 68 yesterday.  I think I'll be well enough to go Friday night, I am much better but I have canceled all my games this week.  It's boring to stay home so much too but it is what it is so I'll do it.

I have been on an apple kick for some reason.  I am craving them several times a day.  I wonder if there is something in them that my body wants now or that I just like them, I have no idea.  Anyway I went yesterday and bought a big bag of Galas since I was out again.  So sweet and juicy!  And if an apple doesn't snap when I bite it - out it goes, no mealy apples in my world.  You can cook with them but not eat them.

Sarge used to like Red Delicious.  I always thought they had no taste at all and didn't like them.  Funny how people's tastes are different.

Oh and I finally got my sticker for my license plate renewal yesterday.  It took three tried but I persevered and it's done now for the next two years I can totally forget about it.

So have yourselves a fabulous Thursday y'all.  I will too but it may be a tad boring around here.  I'll try to get into something though!

Wednesday, December 10, 2014

This was what I saw when I woke up day before yesterday.  Fog so thick you couldn't see the ground.  It didn't last long but it's interesting when you are high up and it rolls in I think.

I also woke up with a stinking cold.  I have to get well before Friday!  I am taking lots of stuff and taking good care of myself and it seems to be getting better already.  I have soup, juice, Zicam, cold medicine, cough syrup, anything I might need because I always keep stuff like this in the house in case I might need it.  When you live alone you have to plan for things because there isn't anyone to go fetch for you.  Well I take that back, the (self appointed) mayor (of the pool) did ask if he could get me anything but I'm fine and I really appreciate him and his bride.

You know we stay well all summer and then the snowbirds bring us all these germs every year.  I try so hard to keep my hands washed all the time and stay away from elevator buttons and doorknobs and stuff like that.  I even clean my shopping cart in the grocery store.  But still, I got sick.  Rats.

Have a great day y'all.  I'll try to too.  I have a Mahjong game but not sure if I should go or not yet.  They are five so if I can't go they'll still be okay.

Tuesday, December 9, 2014

It took a while but the (self appointed) mayor (of the pool) managed to get the pool lights fixed.  I think it looks beautiful at night.  I took this from my bedroom balcony.  It's just too cold to swim now and it's going to be cold all week I understand.

Yesterday I went over to the outlet mall and found a pair of shoes to wear Friday night.  Then I had to find sheer toe panty hose to wear with them.  Now I have to decide whether to wear a black blazer over my red dress or a white crocheted wrap that I got in Croatia.  It's handmade but a little itchy.  I am leaning toward the blazer now but not sure yet.  It's a dressy blazer, not a sporty one.  And I had to get low shoes because that cute dentist isn't taller than I am.  Well much taller anyway.  But have no fear in the end I'll be dressed properly and have a good time.

Tonight is poker again and today is Andre'.  Tuesdays are pretty fun.  Hope yours is as good as mine!

Monday, December 8, 2014

The above photo was taken last Christmas.
The duck and I went to the cemetery yesterday
but the wreaths won't be put out this year
until next Saturday so we'll have to go back
if we want to see them this year.

This photo was taken yesterday though.

We also had a nice lunch and then a different Publix, one nearby the cemetery.  It's getting cool here again.  Finally the water got warm again and it's going to drop again.  Oh well, it's not snow and we'll get by.  I'll just have to walk instead.

I volunteered to make a large tray of lasagna for the Fern House Christmas party next Monday night.  There is always so much food but I feel better when I contribute.  That's the night Santa will give out the toys too.  There are 42 children signed up to receive them, children of some of the men living there.  It's a lovely party really.  It's going to be very crowded though, I think he said there were 280 coming for dinner this year.  He said next year he is thinking of splitting it into two parties because it's gotten so big.

I don't have anything on my calendar today.  A whole day off?  No activities?  What shall I do?  I'll find something for sure.  Perhaps I'll brave that new outlet mall for some retail therapy, who knows?

Have a great day y'all.  I will too, for sure!
