Sunday in paradise...

We have an amendment on out ballot in Palm Beach County to have slot machines this time.  Again.  It didn't pass the last time but I think it will this time.  And if it does for now they would only be allowed at the dog track where Sarge used to play poker.  That's the first step though, we all know it.  I already voted (absentee) and I did vote yes but I am now having second thoughts.  There are full casinos an hour from here and cruise ships that far away as well.  I think the same people will go there and drop their money that buy lottery tickets.  And probably not be able to afford it either.  I worry about them.

When the lottery first came to Florida they got it passed by saying the profits would go to education.  They do, but they didn't mention they'd take away existing funds at the same time.  I no longer trust any politician.  That's a sad state of affairs I know but it's true.

So today will find me wandering the lovely aisles of the Walmart amongst the other shoppers, dregs of life, and squalling kids.  Luckily I don't need much so it won't take long.

If it warms up in the afternoon I'll go to the pool but it's pretty danged chilly right now.  I guess that cool air came in behind that storm.  I hope y'all are safe from it.

Have a lovely Sunday.  I will too...

  1. I have to wander the isles myself this morning. I was just saying yesterday that I can't believe they're taking this long to finish building my Publix.

It got a bit raw and windy here from the storm. I'm worried about my family. I can't seem to make one of the sisterdears understand how serious this could become. She keeps poo-pooing it. Frustrating and worrisome. I has it.

Have a warmer day today! big hugs xoxo

  2. Went to Wal-Mart yesterday but only for my prescription. No lines at the pharmacy!
The regular check-outs were mobbed. It was insane in there.

People stocking up on popcorn and cheese curls, I guess. ;-)

Hope you have a nice Sunday!

  3. According to Wikipedia the Illinois lottery started in 1974 and that is the same sad lie they told us way back when. Well I guess it really wasn't a lie just not the whole story. I agree with you I just don't trust politicians.

  4. I've gotta go there today for food shopping for my friend Maryan.

Politicians only tell part of the story. Have I mentioned that I hate politics?!

    Big hugs, honey...

  5. Bee, We went to wally-world on Friday...omg...too many kids running around. So hard to shop, when the aisles are crowded. So we didn't stay long. Hope you get to use the pool. xoxo, Susie

  6. I don't know how you handle going to Wal*Mart. Hubby and I refuse to go. Refuse. I don't care what kind of great prices they have.

I hope you can go to the pool today. You've waited long enough and you need to get back in your routine. Good for you. I've been walking everyday. I like it too.

Have a terrific day. Big hugs. :)

  8. I avoid Walmart and shop at Target instead. They have nice wide aisles and no screaming children. They always have plenty of cashiers also, so no long waits in line. Do you have a nice Target nearby?

  9. Hey Bee, let me know what your temperature is this morning. Here is 41 and the people walking are wearing heavy coats and tukes ( not spelled correctly ) like me.
I agree with you Bee, I can no longer trust any politician and I don't think it's going to get any better. I guess were just stuck with greedy people.
Have a great day my lovely, wonderful friend.

  10. "It's for the CHILDREN" is the biggest lie... I don't trust politicians. When their mouths move, they lie. Period.

  11. Yep can't believe them, they did the same thing in California with the lottery.

  13. They have slots at Gulfstream which is five minutes from my house. I thought it would be so tempting for me. I love Vegas. Seriously, it is a dinky little place and not very exciting at all. I've been to the shopping/dining area at Gulfstream 25 plus times since they opened and have wandered in with friends twice. It is not that tempting and people who are gambling addicts will just drive to Broward anyway. They add jobs too. It revived the Gulfstream area for sure. Just my two cents.

I'm more worried about what I've been reading about them throwing absentee ballots away if the signatures dont' match perfectly. I have more than one signature (I know, stupid) so I have no idea if my ballot keeps getting thrown out every time!

  15. I normally don't do my grocery shopping at Walmart, but did this week as I was nearby (the closet one is 40 minutes away) but I was impressed by what they had. Managed to get everything on my list, plus some extras I thought of while walking around.
