Monday in my world...

Well we never did get to the Walmart yesterday.  We just made a quick stop in Publix instead.  Neither of us needed much and we went to Panera Bread to eat so we were right there next to Publix.

Guess what I'm cooking today.  A crockpot of navy bean soup, vegetarian style.  Don't ask my why but I am.  I'll freeze some of it for sure or give it away but I just felt like making it.  Sarge would love it but I'd have to make him cornbread.  Not me, I can eat cornbread but don't care one way or the other so I don't need to waste the calories on it.

Today I have errands to do so I'll be out a good bit.  Maybe that's why I thought about a crockpot dinner.  I know, it's 86 and I'm making soup.

Have yourself a lovely Monday and brand new week.  I will too...

  1. Where ever you are when it is Fall it is Fall !

We had a lovely week of Fall weather but higher temps are coming. What strange weather we are having in Tucson. I want my Fall weather ! But on the flip side I will be using the pool heater less. More days to exercise before I have to shut the heater off.

Glad you didn't have to go to walmart !

    cheers, parsnip

  3. I do love homemade soups but no so much navy bean. I bought a little 8 pound turkey to have later this week. I'm sure MotherDear will make a pot of turkey soup afterward. :) And do you make cornbread southern style or northern style. I can eat both, but I prefer the sweet northern style, specifically, Jiffy mixes! mmmm... I make them in muffin tins. SO good!

Enjoy your day! big hugs xoxo

  6. Why do we think like that? I mean not having soup when it is warm outside? Certainly we eat other hot food when it is warm out, even hot out - fried chicken, ribs, corn on the cob, burgers - all hot. I thought about that a lot this summer, I've been craving soup and it hasn't been "soup" weather. Thankfully it is raining here now and I can eat soup with abandon, but now all I want is schnitzel and roast veggies.

All of your decorating adventures sound delightful. I secretly hope you get your purple bedroom, purple is a meditative color. I'm not into all the touchy feely stuff but they have shown that it effects the brain waves. I love that. But then I'll take any rational for color. I love color.

  7. Good day Bee. Sounds good doesn't it. Soup is good at any time but bean soup. I like the wedding soup and you don't have to go to a wedding to eat it.
While I was shaving mary Lou came into the room and said to me, " Guess what died in our house this time ". Our machines have been going away lately and this time it's the big clock in the kitchen. Guess we'll have to go out and BUY a new one. It seems that's all we've been doing lately is going out and buying new machines around here. As I said, we still have 2 and a half months left in 2012. Have a great day my wonderful friend.

  10. Soup is good year around. I love soup. If I were there I'm share a bowl with you.

We are currently at the San Rafael Yacht Club and will be here until tomorrow sometime, then it's off to Treasure Island Yacht Club for two days. I'm guessing we'll have a fabulous view of San Francisco. I sure hope so.

Have a terrific day running around honey. Big hugs. :)

  13. Cornbread, yes... soup, not so much.

My wife always gets made at me when I do eat soup because I crumble so many crackers into it that it becomes more a paste than a liquid.

But soup on a really cold day... I can see that. When it's 86? Not so much.... but the crockpot idea on a hot day is one my wife used. She has a portable oven-like-thing that she kept plugged in in the basement in all the heat this summer and most of our dinners were made there. She wasn't turning on the oven in the kitchen without a court order....

  14. It is almost 10p and I could use some of that soup! Dick heated me up a bit of leftovers...long day with my friend to the doc and now in the hospital. I'll go back to see her in the morning and take her some needed things. It's been a long day.

    Big hugs, honey...
