Decorators and other stuff...

I remember well when we bought this condo almost 13 years ago hiring a decorator and spending a good amount with him.  And not much liking the results.  Now I find things getting a bit tired and wanting a change.  But this time I am going to be much more proactive in my search.  I don't want construction this time, only paint and a few new pieces of furniture.  But I am so undecided I find I need help.  I am speaking with a decorator next week.  I have seen some of his work and like it very much so we'll see what he says.  No hurry really.

Anyway onto another subject.  I did pretty good at poker the other night, won pretty good too for a change!  Today I have lunch and canasta with the canasta gals.  Thursday is a good game.  I'll only be in the pool if it's not stormy when I get home around 4:30 but yesterday I got in and Friday I will as well.  Canasta days I usually walk instead.

No matter, I exercise every day now one way or another.  Every.  Single.  Day.  No exceptions.  And guess what?  I like it!  It feels good and it's something I'm doing for myself.  Even if it rains I walk in the hallways.

Plus there is a gym at the club that I can use anytime I want with a trainer in there too.  Why don't I go?  I have no idea.  I think I should change that, don't you?  I mean it's part of my dues and I should be there.  Don't you think?

So go out there and have yourselves a terrific Thursday.  And don't forget the new Big Bang Theory is on tonight!

  2. Enjoy the results - hope the decorator can visualize what it is that you would love to have/see - and do it easily!

Exercising every single day is great, Bee. Very smart. Good for your health, and it ends up being fun too, so you want to do it every day or something feels missing!

  4. Talking with a decorator is a great idea, he may come up with a colour scheme you hadn't thought of. I love exercising especially Zumba twice a week. I go to the gym and use the exercise bike, treadmill and weights two days a week too and I have a Pilates machine at home, which I use every day. Pilates is great for strengthening your core muscles and a very gentle exercise, not weightbearing leaping about stuff.

  7. If you pay for it already, why not see the trainer? The trainer should be very positive, given all you've accomplished on your own so far.

  8. I will be watching the Big Bang Theory with you, Bee! Looking forward to it, that is just the funniest show I've ever seen. Good for you on the every day exercise. I'm aiming for 4-5 times a week, this week I think I'll make 3. Plus up and down the stairs a bit at home. Hugs!

  9. Oh how fun you're going to redo your condo. This will be fun for all of us to watch the results. Cool.

Way to go on the poker win. It's about time. I know you love your Thursday girls too. Have fun.

Try the gym with the trainer. They can help you work your entire body whereas other things don't necessarily work everything. I end up hurting myself on some of those machines and weights so I tend to shy away from them. I don't have a trainer though.

Have a terrific day honey. Big hugs from sunny California. :)

  10. Bee, of course you should use your free gym! I think your pool exercises are the best, but instead of walking the hallways on rainy days, you could be using that trainer to show you how to increase strength and balance, always vital at our age. You should be so proud of how far you have come.

  12. I used a decorator once and really liked the results, but have found that I like my own decorating ideas better. In Florida, we have purchased two doublewides and just about gutted them. From new subflooring, tile flooring, carpets, sinks, toilets, countertops and appliances to redecorating second hand bargain finds...I loved it. Apparently the people who came in without even a for sale sign and offered us $30,000. more than we had in them. What I have discovered in my older age is that patience is not only a virtue, but is also rewarded. If you draw up a plan for what you think you would like and then don't force finding something, the perfect thing will fall into your hands when you least expect it. Your own personal taste and sense of style will be more pleasing to your eyes and you are the one who lives there. My oldest daughter listened to me and has found a wonderful sense of what is right for her. I tried a wallpaper once and the decorator asked me if I was sure of living with mauve....I wasn't....I didn't and was happy that I didn't....it went roaring out of style very quickly. I like to look around at home colors and see which shades please my eye, instead of picking what style is being pushed this year.
