Fabulous Friday!

Well actually I'm not sure yet just how fabulous it is going to be as I have an appointment with the dermatologist and I am now very tan.  I mean very tan.  I usually wear sunblock but I tan easily and I am in the sun a good bit now.

Boy howdy yesterday I won sixteen bucks at canasta, a high for me I think.  Eight from the kitty and eight from the score.  I even made four big hands in one game, unheard of really.  I just couldn't seem to do anything wrong.  Wish poker was tonight!

Also yesterday I ate too much sodium.  Sodium really affects my weight too.  I will put on several pounds from just one bad sodium day and it takes several days to get it off too.  You'd think I'd learn but what happened was I played cards until 4:30 and was in the pool by 4:45, out at 5:30, upstairs at 5:45.  Well I just let myself get too hungry.  I should have had a snack before swimming.  So I grabbed things that were handy and it was not my best choice.  Not bad calorie wise, just sodium.

Are you old enough to remember when the new cars hit the showrooms and all the hype and excitement surrounding it?  Now the cars mostly all look alike, well except for those tiny ones and square ones they do.  Well this is the time of year that it would happen.  Late August or early September.  Would there be fins?  What would the hood ornament look like?

I don't think there is one drop of fun in the new model years now.  None of these cars will be classics either, why would they?  They all look alike!  I will admit that they hold up better now though, much less problems.  You used to get a 12 month 12,000 mile warranty and things would pretty much start to go south when that expired.

And you only have three and a half weeks left to wear those white shoes!

Have a lovely Friday.  Me too...

  1. You know Bee I have a statue that looks a lot like that in my back yard. My parents got suckered into paying way too much for it and now it's like an albatross I can't get rid of.

I just got a new car about two months ago. It's nothing flashy. Just a nice reliable SUV. I'm in my 40's but I still feel like I grew up after the age of hood ornaments. The only ones I really remember were on Mercedes and even those are mostly flush with the hood now. What I do remember were those old Firebirds with the big old bird on the hood- weren't those fun! I also miss the old Camaros. They've tried to make the new ones look like the old muscle cars but it's not convincing.

  2. Buongiorno!
Yesterday lucky canasta, but bad sodium, I wish you a splendid Friday off!
Our morning now is a bit cooler, but the sun is coming hard and burning!
And no rain since an eternity!
I walk to the newspapers, i speak with the people, I like the soldiers and police who night and day gard an access to the town west, and Carabinieri controll at the east access...red zone is still to watch!
Sometimes we feel stressed and sad.

    Big hugs!

  3. My forever car would be a '65 Ford Mustang convertible with a four-banger on the floor! I detest those little sissy green things.
Glad you are raking in the bucks! It helps now and again to win a few.

  4. Just exactly what Hillary said! My all-time favorite car will always be my '65 Mustang convertible! Of course, I wouldn't mind if I had a sugar daddy and he felt the need to buy me a new Lincoln. Ha-ha! Mine is starting to creek and groan just a bit!

And you know I am reading 11/22/63... it is 1958 and all sorts of fabulous cars are just sitting on car lots waiting to be picked up for $75! When milk was delivered to your back stoop in thick, glass bottles with a paper top... and it actually tasted divine!

I noticed your tan in your photos. I don't do tan. I do sunblock. Normally, that's what I do. Unless I am going on a Whale Watch in full sun, 26 miles out into the Atlantic ocean. Dur. My normal cycle without sunblock is freckle, burn and peel. No, not a pretty look for me. Or safe with all of the freckles, moles, skin tags and hemangiomas that all run in our family.

Have yourself a lovely day. :D big hugs xoxo

  5. Bee. You are looking so nice...a wee tan is no so bad is it? Glad you won at your game. I totally agree about the new cars. It's been that way for years. I love the older models. Enjoy your day. xo, Susie

  6. Well done on the Canasta win Bee! YAY!

I know a tan is supposed to be bad but I feel so much better with a tan. I use P20 once a day sunblock so I don't burn but I do tan. Mind you we don't get enough sun here to burn! ;)

  7. We need Vitamin D and you get that from the sun, so just tell the doc that your tan is just a visible sign of the Vitamin D inside you. I don't wear white shoes after Labor Day, nor do I wear white pants. Don't y'all wear white pants year around down there? (My daughter's all tease me on the white issue, but I just tell them, "it's proper, that's why I adhere to the tradition.")

  8. Today is the day to a physical with my doctor. It should be interesting. We've had rain yesterday, last day and probably today. Bee, we really need it. My grass is probably saying Thank God.
Have to go my wonderful friend. See you.

  11. Not only do all modern cars look alike, they all seem to be silver. The young girl driving the red sportscar really stands out these days.

  14. Yep sodium is a diet killer and then some. I try to avoid it too. Well I have high blood pressure too.

I do remember when the new cars would come out and we'd make an afternoon of it to go see what they looked like. It was fun too.

I hope all goes well at the doctor. You just got to let them know that this is your exercise plan. Will that work?

Have a terrific day honey. We are off on a cruise today with our yacht club so won't be around for a couple of days. Big hugs from HOT California. :)
