Monday - a whole new week!

This little baby violet is three years old and still going strong.  Kaye gives it water and a bit of food every now and then and that's about it but it gets strong natural indirect light and that is the secret to violets, that and not bothering too much with them.

I did my hour in the pool again yesterday and it felt so good.  I was all alone again, another gal got there just as I was getting out so the timing was great.  I hear it's going to get cool here again soon and I don't like that as you know but soon it'll be spring and the cold will be gone for yet another year.

I have canasta again today, I am subbing in that same game I did last Monday.  It was a very nice game but I don't want another permanent day in the card room.

In looking back at my weight loss progress I am the same weight as I was three months ago.  Now during that time I did have the holidays and two cruises so I guess it's not too bad but I am still at 80 pounds.  I hope it starts dropping soon because I am still doing what I am supposed to be doing.  It does take less calories to lose as you get smaller I know because you are lighter but I am still on 1200 a day.  Some days I go a bit over if I exercise a lot but not enough to make my net over 1200.  The duck says I should bump it up to 1400 and I would lose but that doesn't make sense to me.  I have to think on that a spell.

So that's about it from paradise for today.  Hope your Monday is fabulous, mine sure will be!

  1. Chuck could be on to something. Also, you are probably gaining muscle mass. Sometimes it's better to use a tape measure instead of the scales to judge, too.
    Have a super week!

  2. I've heard that before about bumping up your calories. A scientist friend of mine once told me to eat some chocolate maybe once a month to boost my metabolism too - not sure that works but the chocolate is nice. LOL

  4. I would try not to worry so much about the number. You are on healthier eating plan for the rest of your life so just relax and ENJOY it!! If you keep eating healthy choices and you keep moving and stay well-hydrated you WILL be fine and dandy!

I need more exercise for sure. My calorie and fat intake is fine. Must MOVE. I need the weather to start cooperating!!

Enjoy your game and I'll try to keep my head above water today as Mother Nature is dropping a ton of rain here.

    big hugs xoxo

    1. I'm with Barb on not focusing on the number, even though our docs and most of society does. YOu may not supporting your active metabolism as much as you should be. That's why chuck suggested to bump it up a tad. Maybe do it two days/week and see if it gets your weight loss kick-started. I don't know. Just a theory. Not like I'm an expert.

I'm humming along on WW right now. I can't wait to see my loss on Wednesday.

  5. I think OCD is right. I have heard its a good jump start to the metabolism which gets stuck in a rut and used to only processing so much. If you add a bit more there it gets it revving up again. Just saying!!!

  6. Is that some of the new math stuff??? Doesn't make sense to me, but what do I know.

Enjoy today. Rain is predicted for tomorrow. Bugger.

    Big hugs, honey...

  7. That african violet is gorgeous - clearly it has the right amount of light and Kaye is watering/fertilizing it properly. They are the prettiest of house plants!

Maybe the Duck is right. Maybe have one day where you throw the calorie counter off a bit with a few more calories.
Or maybe split up your swimming to two shorter periods, one in the morning and one in the afternoon to make sure your metabolism is running high all day long.

You're doing everything right, Bee. It could be that this is the right weight for your body -- or it could be (I remember once before you had 30 days on a plateau before your weight dropped again) the holidays and the two cruises. The GOOD news is that you didn't gain anything from them!

Your doing a 650 calorie burn yesterday was awesome! I think if that happened everyday, the scale would start to go down again after a week or so. The weather has interfered with your usual swimming routine in the last few months.

    ((hugs))

  8. It's true you may lose inches and not pounds.
    Muscle is denser than fat.
One way to look at food is as fuel, and you must have enough fuel to burn to lose.

  9. You look great and that's the point. You'll lose at some point. I know you will.

The violet is as lovely as the last time you showed it to us. Makes me smile and I know it makes you smile too.

Have a terrific day honey. Big hugs from cold but sunny California. :)

  10. Sounds like you're on the right track regardless of whether the pounds fall of as fast as they have heretofore.

  12. I think Chuck is definitely on to something. You are eating enough calories to sustain yourself and your lifestyle on a healthy level but without much room to avoid to lose more weight. The body is kind of weird like that, it just knows when it has to start regulating itself no matter how much you want to do something else.

  13. Bee, I made your green beans and they were so good. No potatoes though because I had a potato for lunch. I put the photo on my blog.

    cheers, parsnip
