Tuesday things...

Let's look at Atlantis today, shall we?  I took this a few cruises back at sunrise from our balcony.  I'm not a huge fan of Nassau or the Bahamas in general but I sure do think this is beautiful.

I think I messed up at the grocery store this week, I just didn't get much in the way of actual food and I have to hunt to cook something.  I have a small head of cabbage and some potatoes so I guess I'll make a pot of that.  Low cal and I like it but it's slim pickings in my house.  I might have to hit Publix before Sunday rolls around.  Especially as I am having a visitor later in the week.

I did okay at MahJong yesterday, I Maj'd twice and broke even on the money.  But I really don't like their game, not them, they are fine, but the rules they use.  Today I have the gal with the memory problem.  That's really getting hard but we are all trying to be very patient and sweet.

You know how the first of the year all the commercials are about weight loss stuff.  Well summer is almost here and they are at it again.  I know there is no secret or magic formula and it's plain hard to do so most of their claims just make me mad.  You have to eat less calories than you burn.  All the other krap is just that in a nutshell.  Krap.  The dumbest one now to me is the one where you "shake shake shake" this stuff on your food and just eat anything you want.  Yeah, that works.  Uh huh, that and a bottle of snake oil and you're golden.

Tonight is poker too, I almost forgot about that.  It's going to be a busy day for me today.  Hope your day is totally tits.  Mine too...

  2. Atlantis IS very beautiful! Linda and I took a walk all around it and it's just a very expensive hotel and casino. The rest of Nassau is stinky and just not very pretty. I can pretty much do without getting off of the ship... but I SO want to go again! Because I'm all about the ship!

Hoping the Alzheimer gal will be having a good day today. It could happen to any of us, I know, but I want you to have FUN!

Big hugs from me and those furry, purry Gs! xoxo

  3. I spent many summers on my parent's boat docked in the Bahamas (not nassau). It is beautiful but they invented the word slow. Dinner would take hours! If anything broke on the boat, my Dad would either fly back to Florida to get the parts or fly a mechanic over to the Island to fix it. Otherwise it would cost so much more and take so much more time!

The natives were generally sweet and were outrageously funny.

  4. I've never been to Atlantis but I bought my favorite bracelet in Nassau. I would enjoy visiting the Bahamas again. Aren't those cruises great!

  5. Good morning Bee. As far as Nassau is concern I didn't enjoy the place. Atlantis seems OK but I haven't had the chance to get there.
Mary Lou is out having her hair done. I've got some things to do today so I'll be busy. See you later you wonderful lady.

  7. I'm with you on the Bahamas. I'd rather be on St. Thomas or Grand Turk. Just like you.

Yes losing weight takes a lot of work and determination. There is no easy way.

Have a terrific day honey. Big hugs. :)

  8. Beautiful picture, great way to start the day! And I totally agree about the "shake, shake, shake" commercials. If it were that easy, we'd all be doing it! Your take on it is exactly right. I hope you have a wonderful day. Hugs!

  9. I go incommunicado for the weekend and you totally redecorate!

One of these days Blogger is going to make me do something with my layout too -- but I'm trying to stall that as long as possible.

  10. Shake, shake, shake your booty! That is what Miss Megan sings when she feels like dancing. Her Mammy (Mark's mom) taught her the chicken dance, too! Those both might work better for weight loss than anything you can sprinkle from a can! haha.

Was hoping to see a comment from ivana, hope she is faring well with all the earthquakes. I thought of her immediately yesterday when I saw the news.

I have had the same dilemna after leaving the grocery store. It seems I spend so much money theses days just on drinks. Hubby hates water, loves iced tea and soda. I know, not good at all. We always seem to have a cart full of drinks and little else. Yet its still over $80. Sigh.

Good luck tonight at the game!

    Big AK hugs, honey...

  12. Ciao Bee!

Sorry, but we are very depressed, I cannot read other blogs! Hearthquake is too bad!
    Have a lovely Tuesday!

    Big Hugs!

(How can I be a follower? I get no notice of your daily blogs! Thanks!)

  13. Bee -

I know what you mean about the diet commercials - if it were so simple to lose weight, this country would not be as obese as it is.

Once again today, it was suggested that I need to lose weight - but, the doctor suggesting it (my orthopedist) qualified his counsel by admitting that while he needed to lose weight as well, he had only been able to lose five pounds himself over an extended period of time.

Your counsel about fewer calories eaten than burned is critical - one must get more active while controlling what they eat. My biggest issue is that I am an advocate of the SEE food diet - I see food and I eat it.

    Hope your Tuesday is wonderful.

  14. Bee, glad you had some fun yesterday, even if it was not with your regular girls. I hope today is a blast and that you win big.

I am not a huge fan of Nassau either, but Atlantis is a site to behold. I heard it was built with blood diamond money, so I doubt I would ever stay there. I did enjoy the glass sculptures and the aquarium though.

    Big Hugs,

    Bobbi

  15. Yeah, some of the diet stuff is very far fetched but some does work as long as you apply yourself, no magic but eating less and exercise more! Hugs :)

  16. Bee,

It has been so long since I have commented but have followed your blog faithfully. You look GREAT and am so proud of you! I am still wearing the bracelets I bought from you and have had many compliments.

You are so lucky to have the Duck with you, it seems he is taking very good care of you, just like his Father did.

    Ruth from MN.

  17. I so agree with you. The only way to lose weight is to eat less and exercise more.
