Rest in peace my darling...

These are my hands being presented the flag that covered my beloved.  I will remember this exact moment forever.

And this is the day that we pay respect to our soldiers both here and fallen.  Especially fallen.  This year my heart breaks as he is now among those fallen warriors.  He was a hero in every sense of the word and a gentleman and loving husband for 44 years.  I miss him with an ache so deep I cannot express it.  But you already know that.

Enjoy your holiday weekend please but remember too, won't you?
Freedom is not free.

  2. No indeed, freedom is bought at the highest cost.

There is at this moment a sea of flags across the street and in the field behind my neighbor's yard. I don't know how he manages it but each year on every patriotic holiday he manages to puts out even more flags. This year his son helped him put them out. A silent, visual tribute to the fallen.

Remembering sweet Sarge, and you today. big hugs xoxo

  10. You are correct that freedom comes with a debt we can never repay. My dad is a veteran (101st Airborne) and he taught us at a young age what Memorial is really about. One day when he is gone he can rest easy knowing I have not forgotten.

  28. I had to search your part uno blog for the link you posted about your scooters. I remembered reading it but didn't save the link. Anyway during the search I had to look through many posts to find it and particularly noticed an August 2009 with a picture of you. I just want to say how great your weight loss program has been working. You are an inspiration as I am trying to help my hubby lose a number of pounds. It would certainly help his COPD and CHF. But we are also looking into a scooter and I know how much you love yours. Thanks Dawn

  31. Hi Miss Bee, I have been gone from your blog for awhile. Memorial Day ws hard for me as well. I also went to the cemetery to spend time with Mike. It is 10 months ago that he past away and not a day goes by that I think about him and all the fun times we had together. Well, VA finally approved my claim for widows benefits, and also the funeral expenses. I wish Mike were here to reap the benefits of his Viet Nam experiences. He tried for 3 years to get his claim for Agent Orange, and all the illnesses he got because of the exposure to it. I am seeing a cancer dr. right now because my blood platelet counts are very low. I have had low white cell counts for over 5 years, but now I am getting low red cell counts as well. I feel tired all the time, I bruise easily, and have been getting infections quite often. I had MRSA on my knee about 3 weeks ago and was on a very strong antibiotic for 10 days. The dr. has been giving me Procrit to try and raise the red cell count. It is a series of 3 shots and I have had 2 so far. I had my 2nd shot yesterday and have been so tired today and fell asleep in my recliner for 4 hrs. They actually use Procrit for cancer, but the dr. says I don't have cancer, at least no symptoms of that yet. I haven't been on your blog since before you started the new blog (Part Deuce). Glad you are still cruising. I am going on a cruise with my daughter and family on 7/9/12. Then next year on 6/8/12 we are going on the Breeze to Aruba, Curacu, Grand Turk and one other port. My entire family is going, my son and family and my daughter and her family, and some friends also. Can't wait for that cruise. Well, it is so nice to see you getting around and having fun again. Charlie would be happy for you.
    Take care. Linda
