Sunday stuff...

These little cuties are tucked in a garden in front of the condo.  Most people don't even notice them.  I always do.  It's very good advice.  Very good indeed.

My guest left yesterday morning after a lovely breakfast with the duck.  It was an amazingly uplifting visit and I treasure it.

Last night I got a call from a friend inviting me to the club on Monday for the cookout.  I told her I'd go.  She is a darling girl and I won't be home alone on a very sad day for me.  It really saddens me how so many people just think of Memorial Day as a three day holiday and the start of summer.  Many remember but I'd love for everyone to know why we're off work and cooking out.  Please take just a moment of your day for our fallen heros.  I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

  1. I remember. I appreciate. I treasure. I honor.

Of course my Dad's a vet, my ex is a vet and I'm surrounded by people who are still serving or have served. One of my very dearest friends is a Wounded Warrior and a Purple Heart recipient. How could I ever forget?

    How can anyone?

    Big hugs xoxo

  2. I am very grateful to those who serve to protect us. And I'm also grateful to their families and the sacrifices they make.

Thank you for your sacrifices, Bee. I'm glad you will be with friends.

    Auntie Pam

  3. Dear Bee, Thank you for reminding others. I try to always remember what our memorial holiday is about as well as veterans day. Enjoy yourself today and tomorrow. xo, Susie

  4. It wouldn't be Memorial Day if we didn't have some terrific men and women to remember so I am always aware and thankful that there were those willing to lay down their lives so that we could have three day weekends like this.

I know it was one of Sarge's favorite holidays and I've certainly thought about him more than once this weekend and thought about the kind of post that he'd be writing with lots of patriotic pride and pictures. I sincerely hope that he and the other veterans in heaven are getting due recognition this weekend for their service! If Sarge has anything to say about it, I know they are!

  5. Bee though I'm a Canadian your Memorial Day can never be looked at as just as a holiday. I will never feel that way ever again when I think of you and and my wonderful friend Charlie. Have a great feast with your friend. I'll be thinking of you and of course Charlie. See you.

  6. It always bothers me when people say "Happy Memorial Day", there is nothing happy about it. It is a day of remembering. Hugs to you Bee :)

  7. Definitely remember and appreciate. I am sure Sarge is planning something with his buds in heaven. Glad you have an outing planned.

    Big hugs, honey...

  8. I'm glad to hear you will be spending Memorial Day with friends Bee. x

  9. I so agree with what you wrote. I did a post about Memorial Day (years ago) where I ask just when did it become three days of sales so you could buy, refrigerator, cars, furniture....
It is a time of remembrance.
So glad you have a nice day planned.

    cheers, parsnip

  10. How nice that you have an invite for tomorrow. We always remember and do give thanks to those who have served. Our nephew (who we don't really know but still) graduated this week from the Air Force Academy and his younger brother is at The Citadel.

Ralph's sister, their late mom, was an Air Force officer, as was their dad. She died when they were young.

Thinking of you today, Bee. Like Linda said, I also thought of Sarge on this special weekend.
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I've been ignoring it lately!

  11. May we never forget! Glad you can be with a friend tomorrow. Hugs!

  12. Yesterday I asked my dad if he ever looks at stock photos of Normandy to see if he recognizes my great Uncle Walt (who more or less raised my Dad). He was shot and paralazed on Normandy Beach during the invasion. If I have a chance tomorrow, I think I'll write a post about my great uncle-even though he passed away two years before I was born.
