I have some news. I’m considering moving into a lifecare facility in the independent living area. It’s expensive as in really expensive but it has everything I want in my lifestyle. Water aerobics, trainer, movies, canasta, Mahjong, bingo, live entertainment, beautiful dining room, cafe, happy hour, transportation, lots of meals included, beautiful apartment, WiFi, electric, outings, pretty much anything I want. I have been accepted and given them a deposit so now I just have to make the final decision. It’s not an easy decision though as it won’t leave me much money monthly. Enough for sure but not a lot extra. Any thoughts?

Are you doing all those things anyway and have lots of money left over? I get where you're coming from, but can you still do a cruise if you want?
ReplyDeleteI know you'll do what it best for you and that's what counts. You'll sell your condo?
Let us know what you decide, and know that I love you bunches. ♥♥♥
It's a really hard question for anyone, isn't it. So many factors feed into the decision and I wish you the best as you are making it.
ReplyDeleteRather than a life care facility, how about one of those Active Senior communities, like Del Webb? They don't have a cafe, meals or transportation, but you would have all the other things. If you buy a condo in one of these communities you have access to all the amenities and it would probably be less expensive than a life care facility. If you are mostly wanting the exercise, social and outings amenities and not the cooking and transportation, this may be something to check out.
ReplyDeleteGo for it Bee. You just might meet a man and whoopee do. See ya my friend.

It sounds like a lifetime on a cruise, without the ship. How fortunate you are to even be able to consider it. With all that is included, you probably won't need much extra money a month. If you can afford it-- GO FOR IT!!
ReplyDeleteI took some time to think about this.
ReplyDeleteIf you like the place and the people who are already living there, where it is located and if all the things you do now that is extra in your life is included in the price then it might be a really good deal. You could still visit all your friends and enjoy outings.
It is a big decision. It might work out really well for you But you need to sit down and crunch the numbers.
cheers, parsnip
As I see it: you can do the things you have been enjoying for a while, have a place of your own, have a bit of cash for a hair do or a new blouse once in a while. . . . and have assistance if and when you need it. . . . Sounds like the ideal situation as long as you can come and go as you want. I have decided that if I have to I will do that. . . . and I've decided which one I want to move to already. . . what does The Duck think???
ReplyDeleteBee, it's your life and it's your money and I wouldn't dea of second guessing you. I know you've thought things through and most likely have discussed it with Cat and Chuck and quite possibly with a few inner-cirlce friends whose council you trust. You'll do what is best for you.
ReplyDeleteJust a thought though.... Couldn't you do all that stuff on a cruise ship, for cheaper? BTB to BTB to BTB and on and on.... People do it. I've actually met a guy on board who was practically doing it. I'd love to do it. I wouldn't get a balcony cabin but it would be totally awesome.
Love you bunches xoxo
Hello dearest Bee,
ReplyDeleteI think it is a wonderful idea if it has everything in it that you love to do and would also be a great place should you need any future more intensive care. It'll be familiar, safe, and if it is spotlessly clean and the care givers excellent and kind, worth every penny. in the long run.
You must have been giving it a lot of thought, and if it feels right to you, trust your gut.
((Big hugs))
