Valentine's Day 2008

Sarge was never one to say "I love you" or buy gifts but he always showed me he loved me in wonderful ways.  Like making me heart shaped pancakes on Valentine's Day.  Gosh I miss that man.

So I was watching the news last night and I heard that Costco and American Express are parting ways.  I don't know about you but my Costco card IS my American Express card so that means that I will no longer HAVE that card.  I have had it for years and years and all my bills go on it and then I only have to pay that one thing basically.  So I started changing the accounts online and by telephone to another card, what a royal pain that is.

I am playing canasta today as a sub but it's cold and I can't swim so I don't mind.  It's something to do on a Saturday afternoon.  On Valentine's Day.  When you don't have a sweetheart.  Then tonight I think I'll spend it looking at old photos.  I won't be sad but I will be a bit lonely.  I'll have my wonderful memories though!  You bet I will.

Have a great day y'all,

  1. At lest you have some wonderful memories.
    I miss Sarge too.
Many of us do not have that. I don't really care about Valentines Day and my x never remembered.
He also forgot my Birthday every year.
You are very lucky to have Sarge show you how much he loved you everyday.
That is what is really important and wonderful.

    cheers, parsnip

  2. Sarge was such a sweetie, for sure. Al brought me home flowers yesterday. Blew me away. I've never gotten flowers from a man before.

Well, let me tell ya somethin'. I've had my Chase MasterCard forever. They sent out new cards with a new fancy kind chip thingy and then I went to use it at Sam's, where we do the majority of our basics shopping, and it turns out my MasterCard is now a Visa and guess what? Sam's does not accept Visa cards. So now we have a Sam's MasterCard.

    The End.

Have a lovely day! I'm doing shopping at Hobby Lobby with Peggy and then a lovely lunch. Yay a day out for me! big hugs xoxo

  3. I miss what's his name also. I only knew Charlie in a short time but he was such a powerful individual in my life as you are today Bee.I'm sorry my lovely friend for forgetting to send you a Valentine card. I've been so tied up with that estate problem that my mind is messed up. At least I made a card for Mary Lou and I got her a heart shaped box of Godiva chocolates. Only 45 calories a chocolate.
Have a cool day Bee. We had snow early this morning and the temp last night was a - 8 degrees. I can't go into the pool also. maybe later. Ha,ha,ha. See ya.

  5. My husband was the same way. He wasn't the mushy type and he didn't believe in buying gifts when Hallmark told us to. BUT he would bring me gifts often at other times just because he'd see something he knew I'd like.

Love your heart shaped pancakes! Enjoy your photo show tonight.

    1. Hey .......... I use to Design the cards at Hallmark.
I really don't remember Hallmark telling you when to buy "things" but a card sent by mail and not an email sure makes my day better.
Not sure if it started out as a Hallmark holiday but they and many other companies sure have made it easier for anyone to send Valentines, Christmas, Birthday, get better or congratulations.
And if you have someone who loves to buy you things all year count your self lucky.
I still make cards and send them to friends and family and I still buy cards too.
Yes commercialism of any day is awful but the ability to have someone help is not so bad.
      Happy Valentine Day

  10. Bee, I was shocked last night when Ted came home from the store with flowers and a card for me. We never do much for valentine's , other than eat out. Men...I love that you remembered Sarge made you a heart shaped pancake. Sweet. It's very cold here today. The sun is shining, but just 1/2 hour ago it was snowing and you could not see across the road. The wind is 30 miles an hour gusts..brrr. Hope you have a good evening going through your photos. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  11. Bee, have you thought about getting a Carnival Mastercard? Not a great interest, but if you pay it off every month, it wouldn't matter. It would get you free cruises or onboard credit.

    Hugs,

  12. Bee, that is a beautiful memory, and I understand it. My husband is not romantic often or in grand ways, but when he does little unexpected things, it makes me smile, as I'm sure those pancakes make you smile.Happy Valentine's Day, dear.

  13. I think Sarge and my husband were alike in many ways. They were unorthodox in their love, but left us with no doubt that it was there. <3 I am sure Sarge is very proud of you and sending you love always.
