Today would be Sarge's birthday, he'd be 75 today.  If he was still here I'm sure we'd be celebrating it on a cruise.  Instead I'll be playing canasta and spending time with some gal pals.  I'm glad I'll be busy.  Some days are harder than others but all in all I am really doing fine.  He would be (is) happy I know.

I took a look at my calendar a bit ago.  It is filled to the brim.  I don't know how anyone has time to work.  Retirement is a busy business!  The biggest difference to me is getting out of bed when I danged well feel like it.  Now that's not to say I sleep in often because I don't, but if I want to I can.

I dislike alarm clocks and love waking up naturally.  It's one of life's luxuries.  Like warm bread and cold butter.  That's only really good for one bite before the bread cools and the butter warms but it's a magnificent bite for sure.  When you have the chance to eat this just savor that bite.  Trust me.

Roche' is still under his Christmas tree.  I swear I have never seen a rock more engrossed with anything in my life.  You should just see him!

I think the fish oil is kicking in again.  It comes and goes you know.  Just last week I couldn't add my meld for canasta worth a hoot.  Then another gal had the same problem.  I told her we ought to open an accounting firm.  But we couldn't, there isn't enough time.

Guess I'll go now and have a snack.  I like coffee and think I'll make a cup and just enjoy it.  Have a great Thursday.  I know I will...

  1. I work from home and can't remember how I got stuff done when I had to leave the house for 10 hours a day. I can't wait for retirement! If I ever can retire, that is.

My calendar popped up with Charlie's birthday. Did you feel me say a prayer for you then? I prayed your day would not be too difficult for you.

    big hugs xoxo

  3. Since I retired (almost 4 years ago) I have had a lie in most mornings, until just after 7 a.m.! LOL I used to get up at 6am every morning when I was working. I find it impossible to stay in bed any longer, once I wake up I have to get up. Still, as you say, if I wanted to stay in bed I know I could. :)

  4. Choosing when to get out of bed is indeed a luxury! And I completely agreed about the warm bread/cold butter. I love the contrast of temp and texture, and well as the flavors. Have a wonderful day full of fun things. Hugs!

  5. Since my meds are fixed, I get up earlier then before and I feel good about it. Retirement, I just love it, no kids, daybooks, parents telling me how to do my job, principals and administration telling you how and when to do anything. Love it, love it, love it.
I have Charlie's birthday marked in my own personal calendar book and I always will. He was such an important person in my life just like you Bee.
Can't add hah. When that happens to me, my daughter AmyLynn always informs me that I have dementia. Ha,ha,ha.
Have a great day my gorgeous friend. See you.

We are both retired here and are so busy, well you know that already. We volunteer way too much. It's getting to be too much right now, but we think that's because of the holidays and dues time of the year. This too shall pass.

Have a fabulous day honey. Big hugs to you and my very best to that pistol Roche. ♥♥♥

  8. I think about Sarge everyday I read your blog. Mostly at the track playing poker !
I to love retirement but I have to get up because thehamish is diabetic and I have to feed him and give him his insulin. Morning and night.
I wish I could sleep in, I still do my best art work late at night when the noise of the day is gone and I can just work. But I have to keep him on a schedule so I get up about 7am everyday. Sick or not, he is depending on me. So no late nights for me.

    cheers, parsnip
