Sometimes I think no good deed goes unpunished.  There is a gal here that belongs to the club and lives in the complex and plays cards.  No one wants to include her because she's, well, a royal pain in the a$$ to be blunt and honest.  I am the one that tries.  Really I try.  I am nice to her and now she is calling me all the time and night before last night she came over and sat (and sat) (and sat).  I was in my pajamas!

Last night I worked hard in the pool and went to bed early.  She called.  I said I was in bed.  She talked, and talked (and talked).  She asked me if I wanted to come over, I told her I was in bed and thank you but no.  She talked some more.

I know she is lonely and I want to be kind but I am afraid I'm going to have to stop answering the phone for a while.  I don't want to be unkind, sigh...

This is going to be a busy week for me.  I have something every day on the calendar.  The weather also says lots of rain this week.  And the super flu shots are in so I need to stop by Dr. Wacks's office and get that.

Sorry for the complaining blog today, thanks for reading though.  Y'all rock, really you do!

  1. I can't imagine what it must be like to be that lonely. My friends and I were nice to a kid in high school that was constantly bullied, but the same thing happened with him. You hate to be mean, but somehow she needs to know her limits. Sigh...
Wish your Monday night game had worked out for you. Sunday night is my night for the blues...

  2. Buongiorno!

sigh....I say, you did your best, and she wants by you what the other cannot give her, she has more than lonelss, she cannot understand the other, but you alone cannot help her so much...perhaps she has no "amazing" interest to dedicate to...maybe you can address her to other occupations, activities, where she can "live" her time on her legs!!!
Have a lovely Sunday, my friend!

    Big hugs!

  3. I don't answer the phone once I'm in bed. Or the door bell. For one thing, people who know me know I go to bed much earlier than most people. I also have caller ID and don't answer any calls I don't want. Seems like and easy solution, yes?

YAY you for being such a sweetie. Double YAY for working hard in the pool!

Have a perfectly lovely day! big hugs xoxo

  5. Bee, I can just imagine what that lady's like. Many years ago, a new acquaintance would call me ....I was always busy raising 4 girls and trying to get lunch on the table because my husband ate lunch at home. This lady would call and want me to carry the conversation...finally I would just say "hey, I have to go" and I'd say a quick goodbye and hang up. She finally stopped calling. I know people get lonely...they need a hobby. Good luck, I know being curt isn't your manner, but it may take that. xoxo,Susie

  6. Maybe she will find another friend. Or just be honest when she calls and tell her it is not a good time and hang up nicely.

What is the super flu shot? Does walgreens have it? I do not need the super flu!

  7. Just tell her to call someone else. There must be others around that she can call. Have a great day Bee.

  8. I know so well. I have a neighbor like that. I will not turn her away because I know she is lonely and needs to talk at times--on and on. I have just had to tell her that I go to bed at xxxx and that I don't answer my phone after that. She tends to just come over when it is inconvenient, without calling first, so I have taken to putting a small sign on my door that says, "Napping" or "In the shower". You have to be real careful or you will become her best friend and she will drive you absolutely NUTZ!!!

  9. No good deed goes unpunished. You've created a monster and you know it. I know that you know it. Just back off and perhaps she'll go away quickly.

Have a terrific day honey. Big hugs. :)

  10. You're a good woman for being so patient with her. Yes, i'd avoid the phone for a while. Enjoy the rest of the day. I'm watching an Alfred Hitchcock movie this afternoon. Just finished a pot of soup. Perfect for a restful day.

Hope next week is fun despite all the busy-ness!

  11. There is a reason that people avoided her and you have found it! It's hard to be blunt, but if someone doesn't understand that you are in bed... they are either dense of hopeless. I guess you will have to tell her not to call after a certain time, because you will not answer the phone later than 9:30 or whenever. Truth is the best policy... if she is sitting and talking while you are languishing in your jammies, tell her, "You'll have to leave now, I am under strict orders from my doctor to get to bed by now. Good night!"
