So okay, this might be the start of a new series, not sure yet.  "Bee v. Siri".  We had our first argument yesterday.  I asked her if she could say "How may I help you?" instead of "What can I help you with?" (which sets my teeth on edge just to type it) and towards the end she said "Now now Bee!"  The sassy little thing.  I am hoping we can get along but so far I find her a bit condescending, especially for someone with such bad grammar.  We'll see.  Oh, and I named the new phone "Kate" after you-know-who.  Beautiful, sleek, lovely.

I was thinking (I know, here we go again), anyway I was thinking about whether to look back or look ahead.  I have decided to look ahead.  No one can ever take away my memories, especially of my dear Sarge, but hopefully I have many years left and now I have to decide what to do with them. I could just continue to play cards and have lunch and blog, all of which I love, but I can also add more to my life.

I could learn to play the piano.  I could volunteer somewhere, maybe at the VA hospital?  I could travel more but don't really want to do that alone.  I have more energy now so I think I could do some more, well I know I could.  Anyway it's something I am thinking of doing and what the heck? If I find I don't like what I choose, well I can just do something else.  I also thought about *gasp* taking up golf!  You know that really dumb sport where you hit a ball and go after it and hit it again?  Yeah, that one.  We'll see.

Anyway I need something else besides online shopping.  By the way, my self imposed shopping ban for the month of September was a total failure.  Here's a partial list:  iPhone5, 3 dresses, 4 pants, 11 tops, underwear, a pillow, some software, and the list goes on to adnauseum.  Is that a word?  If not it should be.  At least I didn't buy any more bathing suits!

So my dear friends have yourself a lovely Thursday.  I'll be at the club having lunch with some gals and then a hot canasta game.

  1. Isn't Siri a hoot? I asked her to call me "Duchess PMS"... and she does! Did you ask Siri to call you Empress Bee? Because she totally will. She's a good gal. Bad grammar aside, of course!

Oh, good for you for thinking about your options. Whatever you do, you should please yourself! I am having a bit of a time trying to envision you... golfing. *gulp* But your condo DOES overlook a golf course... and you can get some cute little golf clothes and clubs and a cart... Oh, my!

Have a YAYful day! big hugs xoxo

  2. Dear Bee,
You are absolutely amazing with your positive attitude and love of life and willingness to do new things to enjoy.

You are my hero. I am so impressed, especially as I was so weak and you show such strength.

It is very true that your love for Sarge will always be in your memories. And true too that looking forward takes nothing away from that. Good for you!

    ((hugs))

And I love the name of your new phone! Just don't be taking its top off anytime soon (lol)

  3. Sorry but I cracked up when you mentioned your shopping ban list of stuff purchased!

I thinks it's great that you want to expand your activities!

My Siri is a moron. She never answers anything right. It drives my husband nuts. He thinks it is way faster to just type than ask her. Plus, in temple the other day, Siri started talking in my purse and I had the sound off!

  4. Hmm, I wouldn't say the shopping ban was an epic fail. You didn't buy a car or a house or.... Besides, rules are made to be broken. :)

I haven't had much luck with Siri. I dictate and she is too slow to enter the message. I end up typing it myself.

  5. I too am trying to find my future something. I've done the golfing--won't travel alone, so-if you come up with something good, let me know! Onward and upward.

  6. Bee, Yes you have a lot of life ahead of you...get busy girlfriend. I would love to learn golf..I have the clubs already. Played twice with Ted Bear...Then everyone took up golf, so they don't want slow pokes on the course. Blast. Have fun at the club today. I have talked on a phone but never to a phone.:):) Do you think the wording on the phone may be because it might have been made over-seas? xoxoxo, Susie

  7. Stay positive with whatever you do...and be flexible. Wait, you are both already, so all is well. Good luck with Siri though!

  9. I think you'll find what you love to do and I love your positive attitude. You're doing great and I think you have your head on very straight. Awesome.

Ad nauseam is indeed a word, not adnauseam, but I like it together better. Means the same thing so all is good.

Ad nauseam is a Latin term used to describe something unpleasurable which has continued "to [the point of] nausea".[1][2] For example, the sentence, "This topic has been discussed ad nauseam", signifies that the topic in question has been discussed extensively, and that those involved in the discussion have grown tired of it. As for Sari? Well, we have the talking guy on the GPS and sometimes he drives me crazy. We shut him off when we don't need him. I don't think I'd care for Sari.

Have a terrific day honey. Big hugs. :)

  10. No-one can take away what you've had and it's totally up to you to what you do to make more memories. I love your positive attitude Bee and good luck with whatever you decide to 'take-up'.

  11. Siri should definitely call you "Empress Bee"! And she should learn better grammar, too, but that's a bit harder to overcome, I expect. Some programmer needs to brush up on his/her grammar! Volunteering is a great idea - if the VA Hospital doesn't work, think about the library, a school (around here they like to have volunteers to read to the children) or something like that. Looking ahead in no way diminishes the past and your wonderful memories. It's just creating some more memories. :-)

  12. Siri sounds like a spoiled brat. Yes Bee, you must go forward but within that forwardness there will be always be time to sit down and look back of all the great things that you had with Charlie.
Yes Bee, try golf. It's not as easy as you think and it's a real challenge and I know you like a challenge. Well I'm golfing tomorrow. Have a great day my lovely friend. See you soon.

  14. Oh dear! When I first started to read, I thought Siri was your slow driving, sage burning new neighbour, and then the penny dropped. It is good to hear that you are looking ahead, and of course you will never forget Sarge or love him any less, but life is not a rehearsal and you only get the one chance at it. Go out and enjoy it.

  15. Your shopping ban = my ban: I have 20 assorted 1/2yd-1yd cuts coming in the mail. I couldn't resist a $2.49 - 1/2yd sale of my favorite designer... Oh and add the makeup boxes and hair color. yikes!

I love your Siri conversation. That is a hoot!

  16. I've been pretty good at not spending frivioulously, but I have a definite weakness for books. Hard to resist them.

And I like the volunteering idea, I volunteer at the local reading room. It's not much but I feel like I'm doing something good.
