Last day of the month.  Yesterday was Lala's birthday and today is Daniel's and tomorrow is Paul's.  Lots of birthdays!!  Happy birthday to all three of you and enjoy this cake!

I'm still busy as a one armed paper hanger so I haven't been around much but life is good y'all!  Very good.

All clear here, everything put back where it belongs and life goes on.  Except for the Bahamas.  It will never be the same there.  I feel so bad for them.  The videos are heartbreaking.  I will admit it wasn't my favorite place to visit but I sure feel bad for them.

I hope all of you fared as well as I did, I am sure in a good place if there is any kind of emergency.  They kept us comfortable, fed, secure, and entertained.  80 of the staff stayed the entire time, sleeping where they could, some on the floor.  They were amazing and I love them all.

Well it looks like we are being spared the brunt of this awful storm and I am so thankful but I was never worried here.  In the past living in a highrise I was always so scared and trying to find a place to stay so no more of that.

Life shall get back to normal soon, I must put away all the stuff I got out in preparation and just thank God I didn't need it.

Thanks for all the concern yall!

Just a quick note to let y’all know I am in very good hands as far as the hurricane headed my way. Lots of staff staying, lots of help, plenty of food, helpful friends, nothing to do but wait. I will be perfectly fine.

Well my committee stuff is getting me some phone calls and conversations about things they want changed of complaints.  Nothing bad, just normal stuff but it's going to take more time than I want to give I'm afraid.  We'll see.
Monday there is a bar-b-que for Labor Day, the food is really good.
I had my annual physical this week and it's all good except to lose weight.  Buggers.  I know, I was THERE and gained so much back when I was on steroids for a year and now to get it off again is so hard.  I need to though.
There is a storm out there now, I don't think we'll get it or if we do I don't think it will be major but it is good to know I'll be taken care of if needed.  Fed too.  We are having a meeting tomorrow morning about it and they'll tell us what to do.  The glass in my apartment is rated to 110 MPH and I'm not afraid here at all.
And that, my friends, is all I know!  Have a great day!

So they are renovating the lobby in the clubhouse and I was in the card room playing bridge and looked out to see this.  I showed it to the executive director thinking he'd like to mention it to the contractor but he didn't seem concerned.  He's the weak link in this place I think.  But mostly it's lovely and I still love it.

Oh, and now I am on the Council with a committee under me (not literally!) that encompasses the grounds.  All of the grounds.  To include the buildings (but not inside them), landscaping, lakes, roads, all of it.  Talk about stupid!  How did I get talked into this?  I get to hear every complaint about a lightbulb out or a shrub with a dead leaf, all of it.  Buggers.  I need my head examined.

And THIS guy above does NOT fall under my watch. Ha.

So I must run now because I must get ready for an early dinner tonight (5:00) and bridge game after but I will try to blog more.  I'm really sorry to be gone so much.

Hi there!  It’s all good here, just living and loving life.

My July 4th girl!

And my summer wreath made in craft class

I am having such fun dressing my girl for any holiday I deem appropriate, she doesn't seem to mind either.  She is becoming a bit of a celebrity among the neighbors too which she finds delightful.  Kind of like the attention Roche' likes, and he's still getting it by the way.

Big doings around here tomorrow, hope your Independence Day is as good as mine!

PS: the author of Ties That Bind is Barry Eisler

Sunday, June 23, 2019

So today is Sunday and that means I had lunch with the duck.  We got TACOS!!  Yay us!

It's a quiet day otherwise, I'm reading a good mystery, "Ties that Bind".  I'm going to take a walk when it gets a bit later, it's really hot out now.

Nest week is a busy week but then they all are aren't they?  The calendar is full every day so Sunday is a relief!

The chef is doing a monthly special dinner now so Friday is Junes.  It's going to be an Italian night.  He is the best chef ever.  We are so lucky to have him!

That's about it from here today.  Hope y'all are well.  I am and life is grand!

Wednesday, June 19, 2019

Yesterday we dyed silk scarves in crafts class.  Of course I went red, white, and blue,  I almost went pink but decided with the 4th of July around the corner, well, you know.  We make the most interesting stuff in that class and it's completely free with everything included.  Next week we are doing summer door wreaths. The one on my front door now I made there as well, it's the spring one.

Last night I played bridge with someone that has never won before, at least since I've been playing.  My regular partner was busy.  Anyway we came in first place and you should have seen her face!  She was so happy!

Tonight is a movie, Front Runner, about Gary Hart.  It must be old I don't know but I'll go, I like the movies.

Tonight is also lamb chop night in the dining room.  It's every other Wednesday.  Now I don't like them at all but most people love them and they are presented very nicely.  There are lots of other choices though so I'll enjoy my dinner as always.

Must get in the shower now, I have to go to "Waist Watchers" at 2:00.  Later loves...

Sunday, June 16, 2019

I looked and looked for a statue to put out by my front door (to decorate for every holiday too!) and the duck and D#1 came through for Mother's Day.  I love her. This was Flag Day.

I finished my book.  It was predictable but I did like it.

The Duck and I went to Duffy's today for lunch and had Mahi Mahi blackened.  Very good.  Then he had to go into work so I came home and finished the book.

That's it from me today, I'm already in my nightgown at 6:00.  Sunday's are down time for me mostly.

Have a great day y'all!

Saturday, June 15, 2019

Well I've gotten told by several people now that I have stopped blogging so here I go again.  The above book was a book club book here at La Posada and I didn't read it then but am reading it now.  It's VERY good.

Things are still busy here, I'm busy every day but Sunday and that's the day I go to lunch with the duck.  We guard that time together and love it.

Last week I had a big scare where my annual CT scan showed several masses in my chest.  Of course that is horrible to hear and scary as heck and I had to wait almost a week to get the PET scan and then another day to get the results but my dear Dr. Wacks called me on the phone and said one word - NEGATIVE.  He even thought it wasn't going to be good, he didn't say as much but I could see it in him.  It turns out to be fluid filled enlarged bursa sacks.  They should hurt but they don't.  I still have to see the oncologist Monday but that's ok.

Today we have the monthly BIG BINGO at 3:30 and then dinner and then bridge.  Every day has two or three things I go to and I could not be happier if I tried.

So stick with me and I'll try the blogging again!

Friday, April 19, 2019

I took this photo on my way home from the clubhouse last night.  The full moon is tonight but it was nearly full and so pretty.

Today I have PT and then current events after that.  I'm not going to the dining room tonight because it's the Passover dinner.  I still like to cook anyway and I have plenty of things on hand to make.

I'm having some trouble with little ants.  I didn't have any bug spray so I used Windex on them.  Then I had the exterminator come and he surprised me by saying that's a great way to kill them and that he's spray with chemicals outside.  Who knew?

One of my friends is moving away next month and I'll be sorry to see her go.  She is going into another independent living  place like this one but in Orlando near her daughter.  I do have lots of friends here but she was the first one I made when I moved in.

Have a great weekend y'all and Happy Easter!

Wednesday, April 10, 2019

So today my Maj game was canceled because one of the gals was not well so I got to stay home.  I decided to do a me day and had a long hot shower, did my hair, nails, etc. and put on a clean nightgown because I don't have to go out until 5:00 tonight.

Well the next thing I knew a guy came to change my AC filter, ok, no problem.  Then a friend stopped by to return a dish I had given her some green beans and ham in so ok, that's two with me in a nightgown but that had to be the end.  No.  My cleaning lady was back from vacation and stopped by to give me a hug, she missed me.  Sigh, all good but I'm still not dressed.  Then  I got a call that a battery was low in my "'I've fallen and I can't get up" sensor thingy so he came to change it.  It's now 2:30 and I'm still not dressed.  I almost want to just stay in and not get dressed today but I won't.

The movie in the clubhouse tonight is The Green Book and I want to see it and I have a dinner reservation before that so I'll get my rear end dressed and up and out.

Be well, I shall too!

Sunday, March 24, 2019

So it's Sunday evening and I just realized that I haven't posted in a bit so here goes.  The duck finished my taxes today and I'll be writing a check but then I knew that was coming.  I just wish those jerks in DC would spend it a little better.  Going after the president is not helpful, he's doing what he said he was going to do and the country is in much better shape than before his election so just let him alone please.  You don't have to like him as a person but at least give him credit for the accomplishments.

I was asked why I haven't been on a cruise in a while and gosh, why bother?  Other than the ocean I have the same amenities right here where I live.  I really love dressing for dinner in the evening and going to the dining room and then having entertainment afterward.

I've been sleeping in a bit lately, why not?  Life is grand here.

Hope you are having a lovely week y'all.  I know I am!

Saturday, March 9, 2019

I took this from the same bridge only looking west.  It was last night walking home from dinner.  The moon was just a sliver and the bright spot in the center is the fountain.  It was much prettier than my photo.  I have an iPhone 9 and should be able to take much better photos at night, I just don't know how.  I must learn this!

Today is BIG bingo (meaning the monthly big prizes) and then dinner and bridge.  It's warm but not enough for the pool today plus it's raining a bit off and on.

I got to see TCD yesterday and he is just as cute as ever, or even more so.

Also I finally got the Takata airbag replaced on my car.  It's been years since the recall but none were available to do it before now.

Have a lovely weekend!  I shall too for sure!

Monday, March 4, 2019

I took this photo from the bridge from my complex to the clubhouse.  It is so lovely here, I am SO lucky to be here for sure.

So what has happened in the past few days?  Well I won $46.00 at bingo!  And I won first place twice at bridge $2.00 each time.  Bingo is $2,00 also except for the coverall at the end and that's what I won this week.  Oh, and I lost $.30 cents at Mahjong!

Today I have a Rummykub game.  Have you played this yet?  It's easy to learn and lots of fun.  We don't play for money though.

Yesterday I was sitting on the screened porch and I saw TWO Rosy Spoonbills!  I had only ever seen one but now there are two.  I could't get a photo fast enough but they are SO beautiful!  Large bright pink birds!

Have a lovely day y'all.  I shall too for sure...

Friday, February 22, 2019

This isn't the best shot but you can see the article if you enlarge it.  They put it on the desk in the lobby as you enter La Posada!  I was very flattered!

Tonight is another Bond film, Goldfinger.  We are seeing all 26 of them and as I had not seen any before I'll go.  This will be my third one.  I liked them but he sure does sleep with a lot of women!

Three O'Clock is current events, this week's topic is Brexit.  Then happy hour at Four and then since it's Friday that means the table I host is tonight.  I have a table for seven and then the movie.  Busy day.

Have a lovely weekend my friends,  I shall too for sure!

Thursday, February 21, 2019

The pool was lovely today, 92 and the air was 84.  That's about as good as possible I think.  The building in the background is the gym.  I didn't go there though.

I was featured in the Palm Beach Post today with an interview and a photo but I haven't seen it yet.  It's about living in a place like La Posada and why I'm here, etc.

Tonight is bingo and I go on Thursdays.  It costs $2.00 for two cards for the whole night.  The prizes are $2.00 plus an additional card for each game and the final game is a cover all for the rest of the money.  La Posada kicks in some too.  They serve cookies and beverages at break time too.

Guess that's all I know today y'all.  Have a lovely day, I know I will!

Saturday, February 16, 2019

Well I guess it's inevitable when you live in a senior community but today the second of my friends died.  It was expected, he was in hospice care and suffering but it hurts nonetheless.  He was my partner in trivia, one of the smartest men I ever knew.  He will be missed.  Most people didn't like John because he was gruff and said his mind and if you didn't like it he didn't care but I knew inside he was gentle and caring and it was a facade.

The first was a gentle soft spoken woman named Harriett.  She was my Tuesday bridge partner and a very good one at that.  She was ready when her time came though.  She wanted no visitors and her family was there.  I wouldn't want visitors either.

So okay this is not going to be a totally sad post.  Monday Sandy and Dick are coming to visit and I am taking them to the main dining room for dinner.  The two specials Monday are duck and ribs.  Plus a fish of the day and the usuals, Salmon, Fillet Mignon, and vegetables, two soups and four salads.  I'm sure they'll find something to eat!

Have a great day my dears!

Tuesday, February 12, 2019

I was waiting for a ride to PT and sitting on a bench near my apartment and loved looking at the sun shining on this palm tree.  They are so beautiful!

Lucky me Sandy and Dick are coming to visit me this afternoon.  They are back from their cruise and here in West Palm Beach for the winter.

Tonight is bridge.  Hope I do good!

Looking toward my building Valencia

Hallway to main dining room

Bar Celona
(Get it?)

Lots more to show you but this is a start.  I'm just home from bridge where - drumroll please - I came in first place again.  That's twice this week!

Have a great weekend, I will too!

Well I have failed you, I have forgotten to take new photos to show you but I will, I promise.

I have had bursitis this week and it's been really painful but I am managing with Tylenol and Advil and heat and rest.  I have managed to do all I needed to do also but it's been really hard.  I think it is improving a bit.  I sure hope so.  I have had it before.

I'm still listening to David Sedaris on Audiobook  He has quite a sense of humor and it fits with  mine.  He has a bit of a bad mouth though but that doesn't bother me.

Tonight is bridge.  I won on Tuesday,  Hope I do again!

Have a great day my loves...

I am honored to be on the panel!  Being one of the newer residents here it really is something that they asked me.  Yay!
